Friday and we are nearing some sort of normality - we both had a really good night's sleep - so good in fact that we neither of us woke fully until about 9.00am which is unheard of for us. Even the cats have taken sympathy on us - Moaning Minnie actually came in and settled down on my head and rather than padding me into submission went to sleep. Boris just came in and flopped in the crook of my legs and Charlie left it until ate before pawing items off of our bedside tables in the hopes he might get fed. Chvers, always the gentlecat, was standing guard at the end of the footpath fending off all comers to ensure we had peace.
John has started his latest round of physio with Marios down in Polis in the hopes that this will sort out his poorly knee thus negating the need for injections or worse surgery. He went across the road for a coffee before setting off.
I set off early to Mums but met every slow moving vehicle known to man - this is the law of sod when you are in a hurry.
Freddo is back and looking svelte after his stay at the vets - he is driving Mum mad demanding attention all the time bless him. I think Mum has found it difficult returning home after having had 24/7 wall to wall company with family and friends over the last 10 days in the UK and this will not be the case back here. Sadly we cannot change this so between us we have to concentrate on all the positives there are for her living here and there are many. It is early days for us all and we are still finding our feet. I am sure that the lovely summer days stretching out in front of us will warm both our bones and our hearts.
When I returned from a hot enjoyable and exhausting session of pickleball I was called to our neighbours where Mum Kia was preparing the memorial dish of Koliva which they make for special services being held at our local church this weekend which is when the island celebrates the Great Flood or Kataklysmos. They are going to give my dad a special mention and will light a candle for him. This reminds me that we must get up to the cemetery to see him and see what his grave is like because before I went away there was a massive storm which caused the grave next to him to sink which was a shock. It has now been three months since he passed away - where on earth has that time gone?
A quiet night in for us and for that I was grateful - we have started a things to do list before Hazel arrives which is growing by the minute and I know Mum says Haze wont be looking at the decor but we just want Villa 10b to look nice and for her to have a fabulous holiday because she really deserves it.
