the last Wednesday in May...

For the people who we see sporadically, we like to arrange the next time we will see them just as we finish the current visit, if that makes sense!  So we will be seeing Nicky and Mark on Saturday and will pencil in the next visit and we are due to see Claire and Mina next week and when we do will pencil in the next visit - you get my drift?  That way there is something in the diary.  We all seem to have busy lives so it is all too easy for the year to pass us by and then we realise we haven't been in touch.

Today was one of those days.  We periodically catch up with Gillian and David Carbine - John used to see David at football when he went to support ENAD but since I got him IFollow he watches the Mighty Blades on a Saturday instead and Gillian and I share an interest in craft and photography and Gillian keeps an eye on Sonia since Sonia had her stroke.  So the last time we met up for a coffee and we were talking about favourite places to eat and we had mentioned the Magic Garden so this was were we were going to go.

The Magic Garden is actually only really magic if you can sit outside and this was the view as we traveled down to Polis to pick up the Carbines.  Amazingly there has been rain around for a couple of days but Droushia has managed to avoid it whereas normally we are the first to suffer.

Fortunately as we drove towards Mesa Chorio the weather improved and although there were some angry looking clouds around we managed to spend the whole of the lunch in dry warm conditions unlike many parts of the island that had heavy rain and even flash floods.

We were the only people dining at the Garden today.  We like it like that because it feels like we are in a private dining club but we worry if Michael and Mima are to continue they do need more customers.  We hope that Gillian and David enjoyed their lunch - they seemed to and we certainly didn't seem to run out of things to talk about.  Poor David had an airport run later today - apparently the airport will be in chaos due to the cancellation of all flights via Amsterdam due to the weather and another air traffic controllers strike.  We will be back at the Magic Garden on Sunday week as this is mum's choice rather than her have to cook and we don't mind that in the least.

The events of the last few weeks/months, the warm conditions and lovely meal took its toll on John and I.  When we got home we decided we might just lie out on the bed for a little snooze and then ended up waking when it was about 9.00pm!

We got up for a while thinking that we would never sleep through the night but we did - we obviously were in need of the rest.

Mum was out tonight - she was going to see a concert at the newly refurbished Markadion Theatre in Paphos - I hope she has a lovely evening because I know it has been a bit difficult for her coming back to an empty house after having had so much attention when she was back in the UK.  I wish I could change things but this is out of my control.
