Today was a day of departures and arrivals although as I have now found out not the arrival of the Robson family because of the mix up in days and dates!
John's family had to vacate their villa in Latchi by 10.00am and after the upheaval of a day at Casualty yesterday we were worried that it might all have got too much and they would be struggling to be ready on time as they had earmarked some of yesterday for packing but as it happens it was all good and John came back here with them in good time. Unfortunately their flights were not until later this afternoon so they had quite a few hours to kill. John had got up and cleaned the pool and inflated one of the inflatables just in case anyone wanted to cool down but in the end they didn't want to go in having got themselves ready for the flight and it was a lot cooler up here today.
Janice had gone to the bakery in Paps one last time to bring some goodies for us to have with coffee this morning. The plan was that they would stay here until around 3.00ish and then all go down to the airport and stop at Bona Mare for something to eat and then go and drop off the hire car and check in even if they were a bit early. That way they didn't have to panic about any hold-ups en route and Paul and Viv could follow John and get to the airport without getting lost.
We spent the morning putting together all the hundreds of photographs and video clips from the previous two weeks so that there would be a full record to show friends and family back home and we hope that perhaps these and Alicia's enthusiasm for all the things she has tried and experienced this year and last year might encourage her sister Abby to come over in the future - that would be lovely so we have our fingers crossed that this might happen.
John was very impressed by the underwater camera which Paul had brought with him which was a right old billy-bargain from Ebay. Mick has ordered the next model up and we are thinking that if he is happy with it we will ask him to order one for us so that John's Mum could bring it out - providing it arrives in time!
So this was our final 'allowed' photograph - Alicia absolutely hates having her photograph taken at the best of time but particularly if it is taken unawares and everything was fine until she noticed our big fat hairy spider that lives in the vine above the table at which point she freaked out completely! I said my goodbyes and set off down to Emba because I had promised to go and see mum and there wasn't room for me in the car anyway!
Mum has had an unexpectedly busy week having thought she had nothing much planned - this is great because I know she doesn't like just sitting in the house doing nothing except being smothered by Freddo! plus there have been issues with CYTA and that has affected her ability to watch television.
We headed for the cool of the Mall where I had planned that we would have a mooch around and then some late lunch together. I had hoped we might be able to find mum some bargain simple summer dresses in the sale but there was nothing. We almost managed to go through Jumbos without buying anything but fell at the last hurdle - mind you they aren't going to get rich from us as I reckon we spent less than €5!
We opted for KFC and very nice it was too - Mum had the new grilled chicken and said it was lovely. This was to be our main meal of the day so I was glad she enjoyed it. We had a nice afternoon together and when John told me he had dropped everyone off at the airport I set off back home only for him to catch me up and follow me most of the way back home - no pressure to drive properly then!!!
I shall finish with a shot of the sun going down this evening and the colours in clouds. We have everything crossed that the weather will be good for the next week whilst Mark and Laura are here. We know that they are en route although delayed so it will be a late arrival at the Spa for them. We shall see them as soon as they surface tomorrow.
