So our lovely friends Laura and Mark arrived late last night and are staying at the Akamas Spa like they did last year. We knew they had been delayed so didn't expect to hear from them too early but they were up and about and knocking on our door before we knew it. This did mean we had to forego a trip to the Winery to catch up with the Robsons but we have organised to see them tomorrow night as they are returning home at the weekend.
Whilst we could have had Laura and Mark staying with us we understand that they need their own space and so them being just down the road in the village is a perfect solution plus the cost of staying at the Spa is so reasonable. They like the flexibility of being able to self-cater when they want and then go out the rest of the time. They flit around like seasoned veterans and were going off to Paps to stock up on supplies and to have a Gyros at To Karavani just to get them into true Cypriot holiday mode.
We had decided that we would eat out this evening and as Mark had a hankering for a pork chop there was only one place to go and that was Fitos - so I booked our favourite table and whilst everyone ate outside we remained in being able to control the temperature by opening and closing the sliding windows. This time of year eating outside in Kathikas in the evening can be met with rolling mists and chilly temperatures so we didn't want to take any chances. We had a lovely meal - the 'green eggs' (courgette and scrambled eggs) were different to what we get in the village but equally as nice and suited Laura, who is vegetarian, down to the ground.
It had been a cool and overcast day up here in the hills but the sun went down like a ball of fire which augers well for tomorrow and we hope it will be nice as the Pamments are only here for a week. We braved sitting outside this evening even though it was quite cool and damp and Laura wouldn't go until she had seen Boris who is her favourite - somewhere I have a photograph of him as a smallish kitten snuggled up on her legs.
We are in demand at the moment - this evening I had a call from Gregoris's friend who lives in Lyssos inviting us out to dinner at the weekend but we have set aside that time to do something special with Laura and Mark so had to decline on this occasion. We also got a text from Carole and Paul Venner to see if we could get together next week. We have arranged to meet for lunch - it was so nice actually meeting them last year that we wanted to make sure we made the time to see them again - do wish our visitors wouldn't all come at once - have had a message from Mike and he is over shortly - wasn't expecting him until later on but plans have changed!
