Messing about in boats...

Today we were up early as we had been invited to share a boat trip with the family and we had to be down at the harbour in Latchi for about 8.30am.  The forecast today was not good - rain and it was certainly quite cloudy and we hoped that this would not lead to choppy seas.

The boat was a private hire and was skippered by Mick and came with a 'doughnut' float to trail along the back.  First to try it was Paul and then we persuaded Alicia to go in - she took to it like a duck to water and was reclining in the ring with her legs crossed looking very comfortable indeed.

By the time John took up the challenge the water had got a bit more choppy and the ring managed to move outside the centre of the wake so it got a bit bouncy and rough and he jarred his bad knee so after that we called it a day to be on the safe side.

We headed for Manolis Bay primarily because this bay offers much better snorkeling and is often avoided by the larger tourist boats who are taking their masses to the Blue Lagoon and when we arrived there was just one other boat there but this changed shortly afterwards.  We didn't have rain in fact the sun came in and out of the clouds.  When it was sunny the sea was the most fabulous shade of blue but when it disappeared behind the clouds the sea became very grey looking and rather uninviting!

We had a visit from the Latchi Watersports safety boat and I managed to get them to give us directions to the Secret Beach and once we had finished at Manolis we made our way there so that those who wanted could swim to the caves, swim through and find the beach beyond leaving Janice Viv and I in charge of the Three Lionesses although what we would have done with her had we needed god only knows!

It had been a lovely morning and not too hot which made it much more comfortable.  We left the others on the harbour front and made our way back home - we would be seeing them again this evening as we had booked a meze in Finikas for everyone.

We had a lovely evening in the village although we were the only ones there dining this evening unlike last week when it was very busy.  The range of food in the meze meant that everyone could find something to eat and then some!  We didn't really do it justice - John said he needed his wingman Rob to help finish up the food!  We were served fresh peaches and walnut glyko and Philippos's special homemade zivania with pomegranate to round it all off.  We think everyone enjoyed it and we were all so stuffed that we appreciated the walk back home to aid our digestion.
