Bright but chilly

Although bright today I can confirm that it was blooming chilly.  February may be drier and brighter than January but it feels colder - I guess that dry, bright days are followed by clear, cold nights and so everything takes longer to warm up - cats included!!  Today was not a bright day though and Charlie can confirm that it is cold and was more than happy to be snuggled up in his basket this morning.  We had a slow start to the day, tomorrow we have a very early start as the blind man is coming - he is due to be with us by 8.30am and we cannot run the risk of being complacent because if he is on time he could be in for a nasty shock if we are not up!!!

I had a few things I wanted to do down in Paphos including picking up a parcel so John was going out with John from Arodes for a quiet drink and a pizza whilst I had an hour to myself to get those things done.  I had wanted to get to the tax office for Mum but couldn't find out what time it closed so John said we would go down together tomorrow if the blind man completed his job on time.

The parcel contained what is to be Mum's birthday present - a bit early I know but she has got into the swing of doing a puzzle!!!  These are not the same make as the one I got her for Christmas which was designed specifically for the older person but which cost nearly 20 quid to get delivered over here so these were advertised as being of a superior quality and were somewhat cheaper and I am hopeful that the pieces will be strong and not bendy and not too small either.  If not John and I will have three puzzles to do!!!

I took the opportunity to have a look around some of the shops which I haven't been into for a while including Sun Tower which is opposite the Mall.  I have to say I was really impressed by what they had on offer - there was so much choice and the prices were very reasonably.  I suppose they the competition of Jumbo to contend with but if I was looking for a cushion or a throw or a rug I would probably go to Sun Tower first now.  I have recently ordered some special magnetic tie-backs from the internet which I now know are not so special as they had them in all sorts of colours in Sun Tower and at a good price.  I picked up a small rug for the backdoor for the princely sum of €2.50 in shades of black and grey.

At around 3.30pm I called via Aphrodite's Rock Brewery to collect John and John.  I have to say nothing looks more grim in the winter than somewhere which is normally a vibrant outside summer space.  I am glad I booked the boys an inside table otherwise they would have frozen - mind you I remember visiting there with Di and Rob and we sat inside and it was really cold.  Fortunately the boys said it was warm today and they had enjoyed their pizzas and a couple of pints and this time Arodes John remembered to pick up his doggy bag so that he would have supper tonight or something for lunch tomorrow!!

I couldn't really get warm this evening and we knew we would be getting up early so we didn't hang around too long this evening - opting for an early night instead.
