A mystery trip to Argaka...

We are officially poor today - after my 'incident' with the tyre, after Kenna and I had been to Pissouri the other week, John decided that Kenny deserved new and sadly it was new all round so he went off down to Polis this morning to get tyres from Savvas the Tyreman (from our village).  Four new tyres - yippee that's such a great way to spend my pension!!  Still needs must and having got four new tyres it was important that the tracking got done.  Normally we go to Paphos to do this but Savvas recommended some friends in Argaka so John said he would give them a go but it they were too expensive he wouldn't go again.

Whilst he was in Polis I started to get prepared for our visitors this weekend.  Nicky and Mark are coming on one of their regular sleep overs.  When we had arranged it we hadn't realised that it would fall on Good Friday, although UK Good Friday as Cypriot Good Friday is next weekend.  John was relieved when he realised that the Mighty Blades were taking on Forest as the early game so he wouldn't have to confine Nicky and Mark to the spare bedroom!  We are going out on Saturday but I will feed them on Friday night and we are having a Chicken, Leek and Apple Stew and hopefully Nicky will bring a pudding.

Food organised I managed to grab a little time in the garden - it is another nice day and the sunshine has brought the poppies out.  They are a little later flowering this year and I love them although they get a bit messy as they are going over.  We have two or three different sorts which have self-seeded in the garden along with the Californian ones which I introduced and John hates.

We decided to go down to Argaka after lunch in case the wheel place closed then.  As we got down to the main road we could see some of Demitri's cats enjoying a bit of sheltered sunshine - two cute little ginger kittens sitting on top of the truck's back wheel.  Demitri loves his cats but his (and Kelly's) house is right on the main road which is busier than normal because traffic is being diverted away from the road which has collapsed (although it does seem to be partially open at times).  His kittens run the gauntlet regularly and do not always make it unfortunately.

The wheel place in Argaka was not so easy to find - Savvas said it was by the school but what we thought was the school was a school but not the right school.  I stopped at a tiny little shop and managed to speak to a really nice guy who directed us and we then found it without any problem.  This is a new and modern wheel alignment garage run by two young brothers who were really friendly and did the job.  Wheel alignment here costs €35 which is cheaper than John paid in Paphos so he was well happy.

John said the car drove better immediately and I think he was right having driven it myself since and pleased with a job well done plus the fact that the sun was shining meant we treated ourselves to an icecream from the lovely place in Prodromi.  White Chocolate for me but John opted for Hazelnut and Black Cherry which he said was delicious.
