A Busy Week...

The various issues with the cats has somewhat overtaken events here in Droushia.  This week is a busy week for us as we have my Aunt and Uncle staying for three days and we were also eventually getting our wills sorted.

For those of you who are interested in my art I can tell you that the progress is slow but the overall effect satisfying and I think once framed this will make a very nice picture.  Sheila has finished her picture of the elephant.  I was particularly impressed by the way she had tackled the sky as it was dark and menacing.  She has started her new picture and I will report on progress in due course.

You will know that I normally go to the Cemetery on a Monday and I did so today whilst access was still available as the roadworks around the village are causing chaos and when I tried to go with Aunty Joyce there was a lorry strategically placed across the road.  Anyway we are still waiting for the permanent surround to be erected - Guardian Angels tell me there is a delay with the marble which is a bit annoying but we will just have to wait.  As we had anticipated it would be done around now I haven't bothered much with the plants that are there as they will be dug up but the Gerbera that has been there come rain or shine is looking particularly beautiful at the moment.

Tuesday was a bright and breezy day and we had an appointment in Kissonerga before picking up Joyce and David.  We didn't know how long it would take to sort drafting our wills so we had asked Mum to give the guests a light lunch and then we would sort the rest.

We arrived down on the coast far too early for our appointment so stopped at Sea You's so that we could watch the sea.  We made the mistake of ordering two fresh fruit juices which came in nice Mason glasses but which cost us an arm and a leg - the location was lovely but 4.50 for an orange juice and 4.50 for an apple juice is taking the Micky a bit and we really wanted a bacon butty or something to go with it but they only do full meals.  We decided to cut our losses and take a leaf out of the Bobster's Book and head off to Arabica which is just up the hill and where you can get a fabulous coffee and bacon butty for the same price as a manky old apple juice.

I was still picking the bits of apple skin out of my teeth when we arrived so didn't go for the buttie opting to check out the neighbouring shops in this lovely little parade.  I had a mooch around the Gift Finder which is a lovely place housing all sorts of local and home made items.  Next door is a clothes shop which I have always reckoned to be a bit prices but actually there were some lovely things in Here and Now and if I had been looking for something I think I could have come away with several reasonably priced items - particularly as some were in the sale.  I also checked out the English Sausage Company and came out with a selection of pork pies - I am still looking for a decent supply since Gina the Pie Lady stopped making them.  John sat in the sun with his coffee and sandwich and happily let me get on with it.

We had a bit of trouble finding the exact location of where we were to go for our wills because I had only been once with Mum and it all looked a bit different.  I do remember however that parking directly outside the house was difficult so we managed to find a spot on the road outside and arrived on time.  It was quite a quick affair really as we have no special bequests  - we have to return next week to sign and have our signatures witnessed and then lodge at the court in due course.  I have to say that it was all very reasonably priced - less than 100 euros each complete with the stamp duty and Court lodging fee - so we are happy that we have, at long last, formalised this - we have been talking about it for ages and just not got round to it.

We collected our charges and brought them back to Droushia - then realised that Minnie really needed to go to the vets and as there wasn't one today in Prodromi we shot off to the main branch leaving Joyce and David alone - not an ideal start to their stay and as you will have already read Minnie was in quite a state so when we returned home we didn't know exactly the extent of her injuries.
