Will we or will we not...

We had an early start to the day today because at long last we were finalising our wills which is something we have been meaning to do for a long time.  We really need to thank the Bobster and Di for giving us the push we needed to get them sorted.

When I took Mum to Kissonerga to meet the lady that is now going to do her tax returns I saw that she also did wills and so I thought I would strike whilst the iron was hot and made and appointment.

We had a couple of weeks to think about things and then last week we went and gave instructions and they were drafted and then today we signed them and had them witnessed.

The next step is for us to go and lodge them at the court in Paphos which is going to be done on the day after I return from the UK.  This is another tick in the box of things which we have had simmering on the back burner for months, if not years.  The house in Kissonerga where we had to go is a little difficult to find and it is a little odd sitting in someone's kitchen discussing your worldly goods but at the end of the day it didn't cost us an arm and a leg for which we were very happy as we have had a very expensive time of things lately.

John was happy because we arrived down on the coast a little to early to park up and wait for our appointment so he got to have a breakfast bap and coffee at Arabica to keep him going for the morning!!

Whilst down in the area we had also got our act together in relation to the various bits of jewellery we have knocking about in need of repair and had decided to go to the highly recommended shop which is just down from the Marks and Spencer food hall in Old Town.

This meant that the best place to park was the Sunken Car Park and we got to try out the new glass lift which takes you up to the coffee area just adjacent to Marks.

We wandered off down to the shop to find it was CLOSED and on ringing the first number didn't get any answer which didn't go down with John - I rang the second number and got a woman who explained that they had put an apology on Social Media but Martin had taken her to the airport but was on his way back.

Stupidly we thought she was referring to Paphos airport so decided to go and grab a coffee and wait for his arrival.  I was sure that he would see my missed phone call and give me a ring.  I tried ringing on a number of occasions but didn't get a reply so John was happy to call it a day.

As it happens Martin was on his way back from Larnaca and did not return my calls because he had lost his phone hoping that it was still on charge at home (wherever that might be).  Anyway he was such a nice guy that all was forgiven and we were glad that we had finally offloaded the items and that they would be repaired/resized and returned!!  In the interim we had had a nice coffee sat at the new Caffe Nero and found Gregory's so that John could have a battery put in his wedding anniversary watch.

I have to say that I think they have done this part of the Old Town very nicely and I hear what people have said about it being a shame there is a coffee chain in situ at this prime location but I think this isd it needed someone with the clout of a big chain to g what the younger clientele are expecting anet it up and running and functioning properly.  The coffee was good and not expensive and it was lovely to sit and watch the world go buy.

John made four Cypriot ladies' day when he offered to take their photograph at the statue of the girl with the birds (or lack of them as the case may be as someone keeps stealing them unfortunately).  He used his whole range of Cypriot/Gringlish and they told him that he should learn particularly as we live in a village!  One of them had a relative who lived in Droushia - no surprise there!!!

We collected my aunt and uncle and brought them back to our place where we had a light lunch and then spent the afternoon relaxing in the garden - or in Uncle David's case on our spare bed!!

The weather this week is absolutely incredible compared to last week when there was sunshine but a definite 'nip' in the air.

This afternoon the temperature in the conservatory shot up to 45 degrees and in the lounge which is always very cool at the best of times it was marginally under 30 degrees.  That is hot by anyone's reckoning!!

Joyce and David have not been in May before so they are enjoying the green countryside, colourful garden and pleasant temperatures - well at least they are now thank goodness.

We are hoping to be able to get a Meze in Finnikas tomorrow night - we have booked it but need to ensure we can access the restaurant safely with our guests.  John decided it would be a good idea to wander down the village and have a drink under the vines in Stathmos and then we could see what the road was like.  As it happens, as of today, it is clear, uneven but clear and accessible to pedestrians.  John checked the post and spoke to Philllipos and they are expecting us tomorrow which is good because this is somewhere Joyce particularly wanted to go.

We were able to take our dinner outside this evening - it was so lovely and we had a sort of mini-meze with a selection of salads, dips and olives to go with some of Marina's meatballs which I had tarted up with a spicy sauce and some halloumi wrapped in bacon and some of those lovely little cheese puff affairs that Argy always gives us.  It all went down very well and set us up for our Rummikub challenge before David and John watched the Championship play-off game second leg between West Brom and Aston Villa - well David managed one half but John stayed on for the whole extra time and penalties bit - and plans to do the same tonight when he hopes Frank Lampard FC will put dirty dirty Leeds in their place.
