Back Home...

Friday was quite normal even though I was knackered having got to bed around midnight.  We were up early and off down to Paphos to run some errands before pickleball.

They are obviously going to do some road resurfacing on the Mesoghi as part of it was closed off without much warning - it must have been closed for quite a stretch because we met the most unlikely of vehicles on the little side road we used.

I had bought a day bed on the internet which I plan to put in the front garden on the decking.  This is from Yola in Konia from whom I have bought several things in the past.  We also had to collect our new pool cover which is a gift from Lakis and Argy for all the work John does for them when they are away and when they are here.  Sadly the cover which we inherited from Mum and Dad and which must be the best part of 20 years old has begun to disintegrate and leave bits of blue in the pool.  The new cover is a very very generous gift for which we are extremely grateful and a little bit excited because these new ones are much more lightweight and have properties which enable them to harness the heat of the sun and transfer into the water apparently.

Having done everything we wanted to do we grabbed a drink from The One cafe which is on the Emba bypass and John got himself a free icecream from the owner which was very kind of her as we have only been in a couple of times and once she wasn't even there!

We had some great games at pickleball and it was fab to see and catch up with Diana who has also been back to the UK with the Bobster to see family and to watch Charlton victorious in the football play-off final.

Mum seems good - John has been looking after her in my absence - maybe a little break is good for us now and again and recent events with the family make us appreciate how lucky we are to have one another and for mum to be relatively fit and healthy as nothing prepared us for Aunty Joyce's sudden illness.  She seemed so well when she was here.

We returned home to have a brief visit from Simon on his super-dooper motor bike - he had been up to check on their house and was hopeful of cadging a cuppa.  He is such a nice guy and it was good to see him even though it could only be brief as Laura and Mark had rung to invite us out to Fitos with Gramps.  They have all been staying at the Akamas Spa since last weekend and I have missed them so it was lovely to catch up with them this evening and our meal was as good as normal and this time John had pre-ordered the steak pie but without mushrooms so that he got a chance to sample it for himself and see what we have been raving about.  Laura's Gramps also had the pie - he is a fabulous guy and he thoroughly enjoyed his evening - only trouble was I began to flag quite early as the travelling and "jet lag" began to take its toll.  In fact I was so tired I don't actually remember getting into bed and as I had only drunk one glass of wine that couldn't be the culprit.
