Farewell Salami Walls...

Our garden is in disarray with stuff everywhere including a chair which has been put up on our outside dining table.  It was put there when we temporarily built the new day bed so we could make sure we knew how it went together and that we had all the pieces.  Miss Minnie has found said chair and claimed it for herself taking up residence - talk about Queen of the Castle.

Another early start for John on what we hope will be the penultimate day of the wall build.  Today Bassam and John were working on our bedroom wall and we had been up very early because John wanted to test his guttering because he could not afford for it to be leaking once it has been enclosed by the stone.

There were some issues which ultimately got resolved but not before quite a bit of swearing and moaning and groaning but it had to be done.  I shall be quite sorry to say goodbye to the salami coloured walls but do think the stone looks fabulous.  The salami stuff is extra strong water proofing so hopefully we will never have a problem with these walls again.  That is the plan anyway and as John gets older I really don't want him up ladders painting so it may be that the remaining walls get treated the same way in due course.

I am pleased to report that Mr Boo is back to normal and there is little to no evidence of his sneezing issue which is great news.  Well done to the vet for getting him sorted - he has about four days left of his tablets which are meant to be helping with his anaemia.  I cannot believe that he was so poorly and now look at him.

Whilst John and Bassam were working I was busy tidying up where they have been in readiness for the garden revamp which will happen once the walls are finished.

We were going out tonight just John and I which we rarely do but we were going to have our own little 'date night' and John had booked for us to have a mini-meze in Finikas.  We parked up near the cemetery and had to take extra care negotiating our way into the village because the ongoing roadworks make for hazardous conditions.

We can see what a massive undertaking it is but still cant believe that the local businesses whach are so badly affected get no sort of compensation.

We had a really fantastic meal - although we were the only people dining we are trying single-handedly to keep Finikas going because it is such a favourite of ours.  The fabulous food included the best, fresh out of the oven, pastitchio that I have ever tasted.  Many many thanks to Marina and Phillipos for such a wonderful evening.
