I am officially in love with my day bed - we think we may need some foot rests which can slide in under neath when not being used and it needs a better table than the one I have found knocking about in the garden and we need more cushions - or rather some pillows and then it will be perfect - it has made a space which we rarely used before much more inviting.
John has some stone left which he plans to put along the bottom of the wall opposite our bedroom windows - for aesthetics nothing else - this he is planning to start on Monday which leaves us with that bit of the garden to sort out. There is little point doing anything at the moment because we need somewhere to store the stone and the cats, Minnie in particular, is enjoying the large toilet we have created so clearly this is going to have to be sorted sooner rather than later.
On the other bit of the front garden I have been doing a Bobster now for weeks by which I mean getting on my hands and knees and picking up every weed, stick, leaf and other detritus which should not be there. I see the wisdom in this as the shingle looks much cleaner but boy it is hard work and not exactly what I went through higher education for!!! Obviously if you do this a little and often it isn't such a chore but shamefully I haven't tackled it for the past 8 years and plants like the bay are great 'shedders' so make a mess. There is still some debate about what is and what is not going to stay planted but it is looking much better already.
On the subject of the Bobster, he and Di called in with our post today - it was lovely to see them and Di got to lounge on the daybed for her troubles. We are seeing them at theirs on Monday night for some drinkies and hopefully some of Bobbies music.

We took the opportunity to hand over the post and catch up with Les in the garden of Finikas with a beer or two. As I have said John and I are single handedly trying to keep Phillipos afloat - it's a shit job but someone has to do it!
Les seems good - not sure how long he and Clare will be back for this time as Clare's 'retirement' doesn't seem as imminent as it did when they were back previously.
Anyway it was nice to see him and it was nice to sit in the dappled shade of the garden for a little while - at least there we aren't looking at things that we can see need to be done in our own garden!
We said our goodbyes and made our respective ways back home walking up through the main road of the village - closed to traffic at the moment because you cannot pass through the bit where the post office and Finikas is.
We have a young horse in the field next to the Scrimshankers. We aren't entirely sure if this is offspring of BigFoot (who we haven't seen recently). It is a good looking young horse and is being moved regularly so that it has something to eat and had a large water container still upright but John went to check and it was empty so he went home to get water and filled it up for the horse.
We ate outside tonight - we had a prawn salad which was delicious - every time we have prawns I think of Laura Pamment as I am removing the 'poo' sacs from each and every one!!! I could not keep my eyes open this evening - no change there then - so it was an early night after only one episode of Killing Eve.
