Where is Popstar?

Chivers was missing this morning.  He is very much a creature of habit so his absence was strange at breakfast time because even if he is not in the house when we get up he is never very far - John only has to whistle and he comes in.  There are so many changes going on in the estate at the moment that we worry about the cats getting shut in to a house which is now open and which previously was not or getting into a van or a truck being nosey and then being driven away.  We went out looking for him but there was no sign - we checked all the houses where he might have got shut in either by opening them if we have a key or by listening at the door or asking Sean to open up the White House to check but he wasn't anywhere.  After about three hours I decided to go up onto the roof terrace and call him.  By this time everyone around would or should have been up so I wasn't going to disturb them by my shouting.  As I reached the top of the ladder I could see a cat in the distance walking along the footpath of the new road going away from our house towards the turning bay where they have put grain to dry - I couldn't quite see if it was Chivers and it disappeared from view but John appeared shortly afterwards with a look of relief on his face and Chivers swinging from his shoulders so I am guessing it might well have been him.  We have no idea where he had been but he was really really thirsty so we guess he may well have been shut in somewhere.

Mum was coming up for lunch today, it being Sunday and we started off by introducing her to the day bed which got her seal of approval - in fact I reckon if it hadn't been so hot this afternoon I could have left her on it and she might well have had a snooze.  I am really pleased that whatever the hospital gave her for the nasty bite she had is doing the trick, in fact I am amazed at how well her leg is clearing up.  Mum had popped in to the cemetery beforehand and watered Dad's flowers which is good because I don't have art tomorrow so will go up later in the week and do it.

We had a nice lunch - Mum's choice to have something simple so we had lamb kofta-like kebabs from Lidl served with barbequed sweet corn, coleslaw, wedge potatoes and some barbeque sauce.  It was delicious but it was so warm sat under the gazebo that we all decided to sit indoors where it was cooler - can you believe it?????  We delayed our banana cake pudding to have it later with a cuppa before Mum made her way back home.

We do not get much of a sunset here in Droushia from our house but we nipped over to see our neighbours this evening and from out the back of their house we got a smashing view as the sun began to set.  You can see that clouds or mist was forming down in the valley to the right as the mountains are just poking their heads above it.  It was a beautiful evening, warm and still and for once very little condensation.
