What a Wedding!!!

Today was Abi and Jordan's wedding and I will let the photographs do the talking because words cannot describe what a superb day it was and I was so glad that I had been able to take part.

Our day started early when Hazel and I had Wedding Day errands to run which involved delivering and putting together the wedding cake which Hazel had so lovingly made - we were a little concerned because the reception was being held in a marquee and today was tipped to be super hot (and it was) and the temperature in the marquee was rising and rising so we envisaged the cake resembling the Leaning Tower of Pisa by the time the guests arrived to sample it.

We also had to collect the platters for the evening buffet which were being prepared by Subway - who knew that you could get such fab food platters from good old Subway but let me tell you they were fantastic - hats off to the staff who prepared and packaged them so superbly and who left nothing to chance - not even serviettes.  Again we were concerned about the temperature in the marquee but thankfully fridge space was found and good job too otherwise we could see the wedding party going down with something awful.

I had Hazel's hair to do for a second time and because of the weather conditions and the amount of time it needed to stay in place it was sprayed to within an inch of its life for fear that it would collapse in the heat.

We had about a 40 minute drive to the church which is located in Bampton and which is the church that they use in episodes of Downton Abbey - it is the most beautiful church in the most beautiful and English of villages and the service was carried out by a lady vicar with the most fabulous sense of humour.

Poor Jordan was so nervous but his fabulously cool and charming best man John calmed him down.  Arrangements were made so that Hazel's older brother Nick (who is very poorly) could be included in the proceedings with his wife Elaine via the wonders of Skype!  It was a real privilege to be included as part of the family and feel such a part in what was an outstandingly special day for an outstandingly special person who we have seen grow from the devil child that we thought had 666 tattooed into his skull into the kind and thoughtful man, and doctor, he is today.  Hazel you should be super proud of the job you did bringing him up single handedly - he is a credit to you.

The service was perfect and fun and Abi looked absolutely stunning, radiant doesn't even come close.  The weather had been super super kind and the venue lent itself to some of the most stunning photographs.

We were then to move on to the reception - this was nearly thwarted by two roads being closed due to accidents but as the whole wedding party was affected we didn't need to panic and many thanks to Sid (and Karen) who negotiated his way to the venue despite the obstacles placed in his way.

The marquee was about 5 minutes from our hotel and located in some pretty grounds on a farm.  The reception was a brilliantly informal affair with a hog roast and vegetarian options and then entertainment provided firstly by a Big Band and then by Jordan's own Band "Don't Like Tuesdays" who were incredible - even Abi took to the stage to sing!!!

Sadly for the many Spurs supporters at the wedding (Haze and Jordan included) the evening did not quite go to plan as Spurs were beaten by Liverpool in the Champion's League Final.

It was a really brilliant day and I must thank Jordan, Abi, Hazel and anyone else involved for their hard work and for getting it so right - take a look at the photographs - you will see what I mean and don't worry if the videos have such strange dates and descriptions attached to them the wedding took place on 1st June!!!
