Day 4 - Hazel's holibobs

Hallelujah - Mum's MEU3 form has arrived so she is now absolutely in the system with regards to her permanent residency which was granted years ago but before records became computerised.  What is not so good is that she has subsequently realised that instead of having her address as 3A they have put it as 34 which probably isn't a huge issue but they do say that if you find a mistake you must let them know.

Second piece of good news is that I finally managed to track down someone from Atlantic insurance who will change the name on the dividend payments issued in Dad's name for his shares.  Apparently they are able to do that for the future so Mum will get the benefit.

Today we were having a lazyish morning before going down to Di and Rob's for coffee and then we were all going to the winery for lunch.  What John and I had failed to do though was to go and collect Kenny from the carpark in Kathikas first thing so we had to shoot over and get him - he was fine but the lettuce and cucumbers I had bought from the village shop last night were a little warm to say the least.

Di and Rob have a beautiful garden - I have plant envy because the red/coral flowering plant in amongst the purple lantana looks absolutely stunning and mine looks like an interesting stick - I think it must be planted in a part of the border where we have nil soil.  Di's roses are also stunning - I struggle to get roses to grow and apart from 'Hadge' the two others in the garden seem to have reverted back to the stock for some reason.

So we had a nice chat and a coffee and Hazel got the Bobster Tour and then we set off for the winery.

The winery now does a full menu but sadly no longer stays open so that you can enjoy the sunset with a glass of wine and a cheese/meat platter so we had to go at lunchtime.  There is now plenty of shade though to sit and enjoy your lunch and the view.  Di and Rob had not been since the menu has changed.

We all chose differently.  John had the lamb chops chips and salad combo in the picture which is really nicely presented and which he said was delicious - it is unusual for John to chose lamb because it can be very disappointing over here and often a struggle to get anything much off the bone.  He was particularly impressed by the dressing on his salad for some reason!!!

Rob chose the salmon and Di the sea bass, Hazel ordered a vegetarian grilled vegetable pitta and I had the chicken in a tortilla wrap which was really lovely.

We sat for a while under the shade chatting with a couple bottles of white wine although as I was driving back I only had a sip - John was buying a case to take home so I knew I could have my fill this evening if I wanted!!

It was lovely and relaxing.  What more could you want than good food, good wine and good friends all at the same table - ain't we lucky?  yes we most certainly are.

As we were sat relaxing the world at large was whipping up a frenzy as Boris Johnson (after whom our own Mr Boo is named because he was blonde and no-one liked him) became Britain's 77th prime minister.  We await his deliverence of Brexit with some trepidation!

We had a quiet afternoon and evening in and around the garden - no-one was really hungry this evening so we had nibbles and wine.  It was actually a cooler evening than the one previously when both Hazel and I had struggled to get to sleep.  There being no condensation in the air I prepared the day bed to become a night bed just in case someone fancied a night beneath the stars - Hazel politely declined not wishing to share her bed with any wildlife that might venture in.  She has yet to encounter a tarantula thank goodness as I think that would freak her out for good!
