My Aunt aka Wonderwoman!

I begin today's blog with a photograph of my lovely, wonderful Aunty Joyce who has been, unexpectedly, very, very poorly but who was able to attend her grand-daughter's wedding on Saturday.

She is a miracle and we are all so very proud of her grit and determination which enabled her to make it.  In spite of everything she has been through and the fact that she is still recovering from major surgery she looked fabulous at 84 and my Uncle David looked very dapper bearing in mind he will be 88 later this year (on Dad and John's birthday).   The three bridesmaids are my cousin Debra's daughters and the bride is my cousin Jonathan's daughter with her ever so slightly tall husband!!!

We send love and best wishes to them all xxx

I didn't mention in yesterday's blog about passing a friend's husband as we were leaving the campsite.  To be honest I am still recovering from the sight of him strutting his funky stuff down the path wearing nothing more than a smile and a pair of the smallest speedos imaginable.  He may have been carrying a man-bag - I cannot be sure because I was dazzled by the white of his hair and the white of his teeth.  He was suntanned to the colour of deep mahogany and looked for all the world like he was about to take part in a Mr Cyprus competition!!!

Clearly proud of his physique, quite rightly so as he is a man in his 70s, he was keen to show it off but it does beg the question why people suddenly think it is ok to walk around semi-naked wearing little more than a stretchy bit of lycra just because the sun is shining - would they do the same in just their underpants?  I would hope not but now I am worried that I might get a 'brief'encounter amongst the frozen veg in Papantoniou's one day.  I shall need to be on my guard!!!

Back to today and I was going to Emba to make up the pickleball numbers - technically it is the last game of the season before we break for the Summer but we are actually going to have our last Friday session this week as we will all six be together for the last time for a while as Liselotte and John have some pressing family commitments over the next couple of months.

It was pretty warm on court but Mum, Tom, Carol and I had a good afternoon.  Had a bit of a laugh with Mum beforehand because she said that she had an issue with the hoover and Kim had been unable to use it because she was unable to fit the tool to the hose and then the hose wouldn't fit on the hoover body.  It was as though someone had swapped it or the heat had caused something to warp.  In fact it was neither because on closer inspection it transpired that they were trying to put the tool on the wrong end and the wrong end of the hose in the body - talk about DUFFERS!!!  Still at least Mum wont have to buy a new one.

We had a really lovely evening this evening.  We had been invited to a barbeque at Di and Rob's with Clare and Les before they return to Hong Kong.  The food was fabulous - we all agreed that barbequeuing is normally reserved as a male occupation but Di's handling of the grill was superb and we were treated to beautifully tender, tasty and moist chicken and pork kebabs - I can't comment on the sausages as I was too full to tackle one but if Les's reaction was anything to go by they were the Best of all Bangers!  It's amazing that no matter how full you are the temptation of a slice of carrot cake proves too much!!!  It must have been a good night because we didn't leave until nearly 1.00am and you know me I am more often than not tucked up in bed before 10.00pm.  Big big thanks to Di for all her hard work - the home made dips (particularly the Tzaziki) were lovely, in fact it wall all delicious and big thanks to the Bobster for entertaining us so well with his music - eclectic it may be but it is most enjoyable.

We made it back up cardiac hill and home to find Charlie tapping on his watch and questioning us on what time we might like to call it - he was unimpressed until we fed him by way of apology.  All four felines in we retired to bed - feeling rather full!!
