Friday

RiIt is going to be a bit of a different weekend for John and I as we do not have Mum coming for Sunday lunch because Klaus and Sheila have invited her which is very kind of them.  As retirees our weekend starts on a Friday and this week we had pickleball with a full six of us and we had some pretty awesome games although it left me very hot and sticky and I overstretched for a shot and my knee cap threw a wobbly but it seems fine now.

Our plan was to grab a rotisserie chicken from Paps on our way home.  This was very nearly thwarted when I realised that the current rotating batch were not as yet ready and there were none in the warmer on the counter but thankfully there was one left which I had though the woman in front of me was going to nab.  We could have found something else - there were all sorts of goodies on offer but John had his heart set on a curry and so did I.

We cannot thank our lovely friends Laura and Mark Pamment enough for the parcel which they sent us last year which was a selection of curry kits from CurryFrenzy.com.  The prepacked spice mixes have made making, eating and enjoying differently flavoured curries a doddle - even more so when you strip a Paps chicken for the meat!!!  Tonight I prepared a chicken Passanda which was absolutely delicious and tomorrow we will eat the remainder and supplement the meal with some onion bahjis using the mix that was in the pack.

John was over the moon that his Friday consisted of the third day of the fourth ashes test accompanied by some Vasilikon red wine (the temperature has dropped sufficiently enough for us to turn to red!!!) and a prettyhot and tasty chicken curry!!!

Those eagled-eyed readers amonst us will see that I added peppers to the curry which is not in the recipe but we had some which needed eating up along with some sultanas!

Tomorrow we have nothing much planned, not even a trip to Paps as we did our food shopping earlier in the week so we will be able to get some bits and pieces done in the garden and around the house.

Our wood is not being delivered until Monday so it is going to be a bit of a crazy few days getting the panneling done before my cousin Michelle arrives but we will get it done and this will be one more job for John to tick off his list.  I plan to get the cleaning done and the bedroom sorted on Thursday although I have a sneaky feeling I will be needed to make up the numbers for pickleball.

The wine and curry and probably the earlier pickleball session proved too much for me and I went to bed pretty early!!!

We have missed our neighbours today - we checked everythign was packed away, locked down and weather proofed.  The beauty of their 'lock up and leave' is that they can do exactly that, lock it up and leave it and be reasonably certain that when they return all will be good.  It is strangely quiet without them and, more to the point, I am now chief coffee maker!!!  Still it is good for us to have some down time because we have a whole host of people coming out who we will want to see, Carol and Paul Venner down at the Souli, my cousin Michele staying with us, my cousin Julie staying in Argaka, John's Mum, Jackie and Stan staying in Polis, John's friend Andy and his girlfriend staying in Paphos and Wendy and Bill splitting their time between Paphos and Droushia.
