Our Tuesday was a blur of panels and paint with an appointment in Polis in between and then about one of my most creative fridge surprises for tea. We were up early and we managed to get the bit of panelling in the bedroom done so that two walls have been completed (save for the painting). We had to break off for our appointment in Polis. Cyprus has introduced a National Health System and we are entitled to join. We had done everything necessary and selected a doctor but then we learned that he was not going to be able to juggle being a Personal Doctor (aka GP) and continue his work in the Polis Hospital so we needed to chose another before all the local doctors have full lists. Sheila had spoken very highly of the Doctor she and Klaus had chosen so we decided to go with him. We had an appointment to see him at 11.30 and by 11.25 we were all signed up and shortly afterwards had received an email to say we were on his list which was fab so we feel happy about that. Mind you we have been here for 9 years and apart from John's knee and my neuralgia haven't needed to go to a doctor thank goodness.

The remainder of the day was dedicated to getting the spare bedroom finished the only problem was that it was so warm the paint kept getting thick and sticky - this really pees John off but I just get on with it!!
Doing these walls has enabled us to move some things around - so the panel heater which was squashed up in the other corner is now on the other wall and more visible and will therefore be more effective. John thinks that the panels might need a second coat but I don't and as I do most of the painting then I win!!!

This is just to show you what a difference the painting has made - I like the wood but it makes the room look dark and smaller. So glad we pulled our fingers out and got this done before Friday - the two other walls have so much against them you can't really see that we haven't done them but we will as soon as Michelle goes home.
My fridge surprise tea was a bit of a revelation - we had very little in the cupboards to play with - save for some leftover moths which I didn't evict the other day. I had one pepper, half an onion, some very dry cheese and a few slices of Chorizo and the remainder of a pack of spaghetti that Argy had given me, a few basil leaves and some rather vinegary red wine sitting waiting to go in a stifado and I ended up with this one pot supper (this is not my photograph). John loved it so much he wants it again - check out my food page for the recipe.
Argy called today - the operation went to plan and now her son begins his recovery journey. We are relieved - there is still some way to go but it is sounding all very positive.
