Poorly Mr Boo...

Poor Mr Boo is recovering from having come off second place in a local cat-fight - he is now known as scar-face as he had a swipe mark from above his eye and right across his nose.  Some of it has healed but we think the end of it may remain for quite some time. He was bitten on his left front leg with two puncture wounds at the back and one at the front which turned into an abscess - he let us deal with it and clean him up but he is still feeling sorry for himself.  He was all snuggled up comfy o the bed this morning and we decided to leave him there until we returned from shopping.

It was like Christmas today when we went to the village post office because I had not one, not two, not three but seven, SEVEN parcels!!!!!  It was all so very exciting but John made me wait to discover what was inside until after we had been down to Polis to do our shopping which is sooooo cruel.  There wasn't anything for the Veaseys but one for their neighbour Judi so we thought we would take that down and blag a coffee from the Bobster although that plan failed at the first hurdle because Di and Rob were out.

At the top of Cardiac Hill we found a couple who were struggling with a flat on an HRV so John played the Good Samaritan and helped change it.  The couple were from Peyia and were on a road trip around some of the neighbouring villages.  I suggested that if they were going to investigate Droushia it might be wise to park and walk rather than navigate our lumpy bumpy road system on a temporary spare.  I directed them to park at the Droushia Heights Hotel but they saw the sign for Palates Hotel and shot off in that direction - they are probably still wandering aimlessly around the Akamas trying to find a carpark!

We did our shopping and then I spent the afternoon getting the house ready for our guest who arrives on Friday - we are out tomorrow taking Klaus and Sheila for lunch to celebrate their wedding anniversary so wanted to get everything done and dusted today.  The spare bedroom is all ready for Michelle.  I looked up the 10 essential items you should ensure you have in your guest bedroom for a successful stay (this is just in case Michelle is some sort of secret shopper type four in a bed person).

They are, apparently:
1. Extra towels, blankets and pillows - TICK
2. Wastebasket - TICK
3. Clock - TICK
4. Space for clothes - TICK
5. Door Hooks - TICK
6. Iron - TICK
7. Tissues - TICK
8. Basic Toiletries - TICK
9. Mirror - TICK
10. Hairdryer - TICK
plus I have added an adaptor for charging a mobile phone and a small nightlight as that bedroom can be pitch black if the shutters are shut.

Our bedroom also got a spit and a polish and all the niff naff and trivia put away so it too is as ready as it can be for John to debunk his stuff from next door to here.  The cats will be allowed in our room but they are NOT allowed in the guest room no matter how cute people think they are - we have friends with cat allergies and we like to have at least one place that is not covered head to toe, top to bottom in cat fur.

John was so impressed with his fridge surprise last night that he asked me to create something similar for supper this evening.  This was slightly different - not least because I used pasta shells rather than spaghetti but fundamentally it was the same with peppers, chorizo, tomatoes, wine, cheese and chili.  It was absolutely delicious and I kind of wonder why I bothered cooking the pasta and the sauce separately in the past.  Good job we are out for lunch tomorrow because there was absolutely nothing left.

My parcels yielded all sorts of wonderful things which included some lovely lovely swimming costumes courtesy of my lovely mother in law Janet, my new rubber broom which I absolutely LOVE and a pack of 'UFO' solar lights, some of which are up on the roof terrace and the remainder are clipped to the fencing by the day bed and light up the ivy and I love them.
