Golf and Gin...

We went down to Polis this morning to catch up on the Happy Campers at Polis Gardens.  So far all seems to be going well and this year they have the added bonus that the villa has a microwave so they have been able to sample the delights of the new bakery and come home with a rotisserie chicken and some roast potatoes to go with some coleslaw I had made.

The approach to the back of the villa is lovely - I have to say it is a very well kept and tidy development.  As we walk down the path we have noticed that there is a couple that are empty and if we were looking for somewhere down on the coast that we could rent out these would be just the ticket (although I expect they are quite expensive) - I have seen one with an Agents board and looked it up and was a bit surprised by the price tag.

Anyway Janet, Jackie and Stan were ready and waiting.  John has challenged Stan to a couple of rounds at the 9 hole par 3 pitch and putt down along the Tombs of the Kings Road and I am taking Janet and Jackie for their Jumbos fix and sparing Stan a trip to the Mall.  I was going to suggest to Mum that we meet there for lunch but she is out with her ladies lunch group today and going to Muse (Mooses as Argy calls it).

We dropped the boys off.  The pitch and putt has come on so much since Marios first opened it and now if you want a knock and cannot afford the extortionate prices charged by the proper golf courses this gives you a good alternative.  It seemed pretty busy so we hoped that the boys would get on reasonably quickly.  Failing that they could just sit in the shade and have a pint.  I know John planned to wander across the road to check out what the New Horizon had to offer by way of brunch.

We ladies had a good mooch around the Mall, did a bit to boost the profits of Jumbo, Zara and ShoeBox and had a little lunch in Delicioso which turned out to be massive before we made our way back to the boys.

They had completed their two rounds and were still speaking although Stan is convinced that he had some dodgy shoes and dodgy equipment which contributed to him losing the first challenge and then throwing away the lead and drawing the second challenge.

I was driver today and I thought it would be nice to call in at the Gin Bar before dropping them back to Polis.  It was a lovely afternoon and we sat at the front of the Bar looking out over the Churchyard - this gave the ladies a chance to add to their 'Gins I have Consumed' book and for Stan to have a fruit cider and John to have a bottled Ale.

Now it looks like Savvas it giving these two lushes an interview for a job but he is actually taking his customer service very seriously and imparting his vast knowledge of gins and mixers to Janet and Jackie.  Whatever they chose they both enjoyed their drinks very much.  My vanilla milkshake was nice but I would rather have had an Aperol Spritz!!!!

It got very hot sitting there so we had to retire into the shade to finish our drinks and then we made our way back to Polis but via the bakery for the chicken and potatoes I mentioned earlier.
