Saying our Goodbyes...

Today is Michelle's last day on the Island - she flies back later on this evening and will be on the same flight as Carole and Paul so as we plan to all eat at BonaMare beforehand she will have some company at the airport.

It was to be a quiet day at home which started with breakfast outside under the gazebo where we were joined by Charlie who seemed less than impressed by the fact that that only consumable near him was a glass of orange juice!!

Michelle spent the morning finishing the book I had loaned her to read because I hoped it would spark in her the same feelings about the island as it had in me.  I also lent her another book about the island which she was taking home with her - she has so much to think about with regard to a potential move to a different country whether that be Cyprus or somewhere else.  At least she is doing the sensible thing of gleaning as much information as possible.

John went up to the village to get some halloumi for Michelle to take back with her.  This is fine as it is properly packed in sealed bags and she had enjoyed it so much it will at least be a nice reminder of her week when she samples it back in the UK.  I had knocked up a noodle salad with halloumi, salad (no tomatoes) and a lime, ginger and honey dressing for lunch and she had really enjoyed it.  I think she had been surprised by the food here particularly as she had said to me she was fussy - in fact she wasn't fussy at all really - a lot of our friends are vegetarian and a lot don't like tomatoes - it was just the pulses thing that was slightly unusual but didn't really cause me any problem.

After a quiet day, dipping in and out of the pool and relaxing, it was time to pack up and leave.  Michelle took some final photographs, said goodbye to the cats and we got in the car and set off with plenty of time to get something to eat before checking in.  It wasn't that busy at Bona Mare and it was another warm and balmy evening so it was very pleasant to sit and watch the sun setting.

Carole and Paul had not been to BonaMare before and were impressed that there was somewhere so close to the aiport where they could sit and relax before flying home.  Carole does not like flying so being able to get there early, have a drink and something to eat at reasonable prices (unlike the airport) was a bonus.  It is a shame we had not been able to see more of the Venners whilst they had been there but for some of the time they had friends joining them and we had visitors so it wasn't to be - this time anyway!!

The last time John and I ate here it was rather lacklustre and disappointing but tonight the food was excellent - John, Paul and I all opted for the steak sandwich, Carole had a stuffed mushroom starter thing and Michelle had a Hawaiian pizza but asked for no ham because she is vegetarian so the waitress kindly offered to add lounza - which is pork!!!

Before we knew it, it was time to take them to departures and say our various goodbyes.  The flight was showing as slightly delayed - we hoped it would not be too much so.
