Bye Bye...

Today we said so long, farewell, auf wiedersehen, good night to our visitors JJ&S who have come to the end of their three week holiday.  This last week has just raced by - it only seems like yesterday we were meeting Mum at the Magic Garden for lunch.

John went down early-ish to pack up The Pug with the cases leaving the Three Musketeers to have their last couple of  hours as tourists as they went to investigate the Market at Latchi and still, at the eleventh hour, managed to find something to buy!!!

John returned with two roses with instructions from Janet and Jacky that one should be laid at Dad's grave, the other at Elena's.  It seemed wrong to me not to have them in any water so we cleaned off two of the Russian beer bottles and put one in each.

I have to thank Mum for the photos as John forgot and Mum took a couple when she went to the cemetery and then to see Sheila and Klaus before coming to us for lunch.

Both Elena and Dad would have found our choice of vase amusing and actually they are perfect for a single bloom and are unlikely to get blown over!

Mum struggled a bit in the sunshine to get a decent shot so I will try again tomorrow when I go up for art but if you look closely at the first picture you can see Elena's headstone and the beer bottle holding the rose so well done Mum!!

Anyway whilst John was out and about I was getting lunch ready for our guests.  I was keeping it simple with Hunters Chicken, coleslaw and Cypriot roast potatoes followed by Cypriot orange filo cake and cream.  I know that everyone will eat this as long as I leave off the cheese for Janet!!

I have to say it was exceptionally hot and sticky today so basting the bloody potatoes every five minute was a bit of a challenge but I realise now that for them to be successful that is what you need to do and today John thought they were the best I have ever produced.

At the end of three weeks JJ&A had accumulated quite a lot of partially used and unused 'stuff' so I will spend the next few days trying to find a home for it all!!

Once they have returned home I am doubtful that the Three Musketeers will be able to sit outside and eat anytime soon so it was lovely to be able to do so today and the food seemed to go down well - in fact Stan went as far as to say 'Superb' which I think is ahead of 'Bootiful' in his book.  Save for a small amount left which we gave to Mum for a meal in the week everything else got eaten and Jacky wants the recipe for the orange cake which can be found on my food page of this blog.

They wanted to leave around 6.00pm to get to Bona Mare so that they could relax before checking in.  Well they said they did although Stan still looked to be holding out for a reprieve so that he could stay a while longer as John was loading them into the car.  We knew that the incoming flight was a little late but nothing too much - just as well really as it is a late one which gets them back in the early hours of the morning.

There was the most fabulous sunset tonight which John managed to capture from the bar - it is such a great place to relax before getting to the airport - as I say we are quite a distance from the airport and anything can happen en route so it doesn't hurt to leave a bit earlier and get safely to Bona Mare and then chill - you could, if you needed to, walk to the airport from their (although not with Janet's case I might add).

All dropped off safely the flight was only about 10 minutes late and we have subsequently heard that they arrived safe and sound.
