This morning we were helping a friend in need - our lovely friend Mina, who has been having a tough time of late, is looking for a hobby that can fit in with her oh so busy working life at Hounds on Holiday and she asked John to give her an introduction to golf so today we were meeting up for breakfast and then going to the driving range so that she could have her first experience at smacking a golf ball. In true Mina fashion she was running late so it gave us the opportunity to go to the Seafood Shop to check out something for us to feed Nicky and Mark when they come for the weekend and to go to the Grand shop to get some cat food. As I was exiting Grand I encountered one of the resident cats who looked to stare me out - probably because I hadn't deposited anything into their basket of donations for the cat population!!! Just in case I was in any doubt he then started to talk to me - I think this is the same cat that mum photographed the other day when she called in and witnessed him giving another a right old clean.
Mina wasn't everso delayed so we soon assembled at Arabica for breakfast which was a nice treat for all of us and you just cannot beat the plated breakfast with a cup of tea or coffee for about 5 euros!!! Mina isn't awfully keen on hash browns but the one included in the breakfast was really nice so she and I managed to clear our plates and set ourselves up nicely for the remainder of them morning. I wasn't participating because me foot is still dodgy and I didn't reckon that pivoting on it would do it any good so I set myself up as chief photographer and videographer!!
It was a really beautiful autumn morning so it was no hardship for me to be sat in dappled sunshine watching Mina being put through her paces!!! Who knew that you could make a large bucket of balls last for nearly two hours - that was 8 euros very well spent!!! Mina really seemed to enjoy herself and at the end thought she might investigate having some private lessons with Gabriel at the course in the future. I was amazed how patient John was with her - it that had been me we would have wrapped the clubs around one another's necks and stormed off in a strop within about 5 minutes!!!
Back home we got a couple of jobs done because tomorrow we have visitors overnight - John's friend Andy who he met through badminton and who has been singing the high seas on cruises and singing off piste at ski resorts is currently over with his girlfriend Nicola. They are coming up tomorrow and we are going out for something to eat and then they are staying over so they can have a drinkie or two. We had planned to go have a pizza in Kathikas before we realised that the pizza place is shut on Wednesday. Anyway all that aside we spent time putting a fresh cover on the 'anniversary bench' which looks a million times better.

We then decided to go for a walk down to the village to check the post and to drop off some glass tumblers, which we have had in the cupboard for years and which I hate, to Marios for his bar.
Once there we decided to sit down and watch the world go by or more exactly to watch tourists getting completely confused with the rather random road system we have in the village at the moment. The rate of progress seems excruciatingly slow - apparently there are only 3 workers on the job so obviously they cannot be everywhere at once. Three workers on such a large undertaking is ludicrous and the painfully slow progress is wreaking havoc amongst the few business that are still trying to ply their trade. Marios is philosophical but he is sure if he can weather the storm ultimately his little bar will be in the best position to be successful. Today though apart from his cousin and his nonegenarian yia-yia John and I were the only patrons save for the farmer who stopped in the middle of the road to buy a packet of fags and create the biggest traffic jam the village has seen in years!
We had a quiet remainder to the day - we are up early tomorrow as we have some people coming to look at the work needing to be done at George's house and they want to be here around 8.00am so we didn't do too much having had a late night the night before courtesy of the Mighty Blades.
