Stormy Skies

There was a massive change in the weather today as we had cloud and thunder this morning - in fact it was so cloudy that we only managed to make 3kW all day from the photovoltaics and the solar panels only managed to remove the chill from the water making showering rather unpleasant.  This cooler weather played havoc with my foot and although John and I had earmarked today to complete the decorating in the spare bedroom I was unable to help and John had also planned to treat the stone cladding to the house but he couldn't do that if it got wet otherwise he would simply be sealing that moisture in.

John decided that he would get one more wall done in the bedroom and chose the one under the window because this one does not have any sockets that have to be accommodated.  We want to get this and the remaining wall finished before Wendy and Bill come and stay for a weekend at the end of the month.  It was good to see, once the chest of drawers had been pulled away that the wall is in good condition - this is the wall which is right next to the pool so we often worry that this might have an impact on the building.

We checked the weather forecast which looks to be clear for the remainder of the week so John nipped down to Glykkis to get the waterproofing solution required for the outside walls and then quickly nipped into the post office where there was a parcel waiting for me.  I am so excited because these are the PIR spotlights which I have bought for the underside of the kitchen units so that we can have some ambient lighting in the kitchen.  I chose black because the work surfaces are dark and these are great because they can either come on with movement or I can just have the on all the time whilst I am working in the kitchen.

Whilst John was out I took the opportunity to hobble around and sweep the conservatory because it was in dire need of some cleaning - with the doors open and it being a bit windy all sorts of guff had come in from the garden including this rather large centipede which had been lurking under one of the tub chairs.  We normally only see these dead in the pool and I think they can give rather a nasty nip so ushered it out into the garden - I am not sure it was going to survive but didn't plan on hanging around to find out.

That was about the most I managed to achieve today - lounging around I had some company - Charlie came out in sympathy and snuggled down on the sofa opposite me.  Bless him he looks so strange when he is asleep with his eye open but he is loving his new blinkie which I got in an auction from the charity shop where Mum works.

We had some short sharp bursts of rain today so it was a good job John had not started the outside walls - hopefully if it is dry overnight and we have a good start to the day this can be done tomorrow.  It is always a balancing act with outside DIY to fit it in when it is not too hot but before the wet weather arrives - we normally leave it too late!!

I did manage to knock up a curry for tea tonight -  which was lovely - I used one of the packs from Curry-
Frenzy - the passander mix - all you have to do is follow the instructions and it is foolproof!!

John went out to check the estate and call in the cats so that we have seen them all before we go to bed - they normally all wander in, wait patiently for the roll call and then bugger off back outside but at least knowing I have seen them means I can sleep without worrying.  I had had a really strange dream last night that we had lost Charlie and when I found him again he didn't have any ears, that meant that as soon as I came too I had to go out and look for him.  He wasn't far, on his blinkie in the conservatory thank goodness.
