After completing 2375 blog posts sometimes it can be a little difficult to find something new to report that people will find interesting, particularly as we are now in our ninth year here. Unbelievably I have had nearly 225,000 page views from readers spread across the globe - my biggest fans are in the UK, Cyprus, the USA, Russia and France so Hello, Yiasas, Howdee, Privet and Bonjour.
I read in the paper this morning that the UK has launched a website that records the location of over 32,000 German air raid sites from the second world war.
Mum often recalls that when she was a small child their house was hit by a bomb and as they then lived in rural Somerset we though that was a bit strange but nearby was the Royal Naval air base at Yeovilton and Westland in Yeovil where helicopters were manufactured so they would have been targets and just maybe there had been a wayward bomb and she was right, we found a record for Charlton Mackrell and we can see that the bomb was dropped in March 1944 when Mum would have been nearly 9 years old. I have been unable to find any further information so far but it happened and thankfully no-one was hurt. Perhaps someone reading this just might have some more information for me.

Today we had set aside to complete the wood panelling in the spare bedroom. We had the back wall to do and we had left it because it had a socket and a telephone point that needed to be accommodated. I left John to get the raw panelling into place and then I got the job of painting it - I like painting and it was something I could do with my dodgy foot. We are so pleased with the end result - the room looks 'finished' and we are hoping that it will feel warmer in the winter. It is a big tick off of the 'To-do' list which has been knocking around for a while.
Whilst John was doing the panelling I was busy trying to make a card for Di and the Bobsters forthcoming Wedding Anniversary - celebrating 35 years together. They are a great couple, one could say a fabulous 'pear' and so that was the theme for my card. I had seen something similar on tintyweb and I liked it. You would think that it just takes a few minutes to knock this up but actually it took me the best part of an hour getting it right. We just need to find a nice little gift to go with it as we are going to meet up with them for a drink on Sunday evening.

It was a lovely sunny day but we have had some indifferent weather and so the temperature in the pool has dropped and we have stopped covering it at night - today it reached the dizzy heights of 21 degrees and John was insistent that it would be good for my foot. Actually after the initial shock it was really rather nice and I have to agree with John that your skin feels fabulous afterwards.
We had the remainder of the curry this evening and some rubbish TV before turning in for the night!!
