The Droushia Drop...

We have a day at home today tootling around - it is the calm before the storm that will be Christmas.  The weather is still being kind but sadly rain is forecast all next week which will put paid to some of the plans we had - still we will be cosy and warm indoors.

John's beer baby is due for its first check-up soon so we needed to get some bottles ready.  Although it is a brew in a bag, drink from the bag kit John is keen to decant some and give them as gifts to fellow ale aficionados providing it is OK!!  Time will tell and I will keep you posted.  Needless to say the design of the labels nearly ended in divorce so a compromise was made with John's artwork on the front and mine on the back.

John did a little bit of DIY today - he set about making the 'drawers' for under the kitchen cupboards which are to house my steps - I have two sets a low set and a high set which were stored next to the fridge but that spot is now taken up by something else so they were temporarily shoved under the cupboards now that we no longer have kick boards.  This is aesthetically much more pleasing.

It was lovely to have a quiet day at home and it was just as well as tomorrow we are on our annual taverna-crawl aka the Droushia Jingle when a group of us meet up in festive mood and attire and visit some and sometimes all of the watering holes in the village.  It was going to be a bit of a challenge this year because of the state of the road but thankfully the weather has been dry so it won't be muddy, just uneven.  We think there will be about 10 of us which is a good number otherwise it is like herding eels!!!

Miss Minnie obviously had a hard night on the tiles as she planted herself face down into a cushion right in the middle of the sofa - she likes to be in and warm but when she is ready for bed she lets us know and will run backwards and forwards letting us know that she is waiting for us to turn in so she can snuggle down between us.

John and I were squidged either end of the sofa with Miss Minnie in between because Boris and Chivers had commandeered the other sofa and Charlie was on the rug taking advantage of the warmth from the gas fire.  It was been yet another glorious day and so tonight all we needed was the gas fire to keep us warm.

We made sure we had everything ready for tomorrow...

Bed ready for the Kirbys - tick
Christmas sweaters, headgear, masks - tick
Christmas Carol song sheet - tick

Good to go then!!
