The Droushia Jingle...

Today was the day for the Droushia Jingle 2019 but sadly taking place without Nicky and Mark because unfortunately Mark had an appointment with a stent which was somewhat unexpected.  Fortunately the procedure went brilliantly and he will be allowed home tomorrow.  I do think that there were easier ways of getting out of the Jingle - if he hadn't wanted to come he need only to have said!!!!  So Mrs Kirby I just had to drink your share in your absence!!!

We started our journey in the Hotel.  It was far too hot to sit around the log fire when we first arrived even though it was lovely to see it lit.  We decided to move out onto the terrace to take advantage of the last of the sunshine - incredible to think that it is 19th December and the temperatures were still in the 20s even here in Droushia.

We stayed out on the terrace until the sun had gone down below the roof of the hotel and then it began to feel a little chilly so we moved inside and by the fire.  First to arrive was Mina, followed by Stephen and Tracy and then Les and Clare.  Di and Rob were joining us at Finikas for the mini-meze we had ordered.

We have to thank the Hotel for their very kind gift of a platter of cheeses and meats which we tackled even though we knew we had a mountain of food to come.  We hadn't started to sing at that point which was just as well for any other occupants of the hotel!!

So next port of call was Finikas where the fire was roaring in the hearth and Philippos had also put a gas heater at the other end so that everyone could keep warm.  Not sure the TV was needed but so many of the local establishments like to have their TVs on.  The food was brilliant and not particularly 'mini' - so much to choose from but we had to decline the cold pork in gelatin dish as it was a step too far.

We did start singing at this point - maybe we shouldn't have!!!

So we had a fab time in Finikas and many thanks to Marina for the fabulous array of traditional Cypriot Christmas biscuits at the end.

From Finikas we moved on to Marios's bar (he is Philippos's son) swelling the number of clients he had to the grand total of 9!!  See what I mean about bars and TVs???  Anyway it was more of the same in there save for the fact that I think we rested our vocal chords which was probably just as well.

Final port of call for this year was Stathmos or to be more precise the coffee shop next to Stathmos where Bambos had the woodburner blasting out so much heat he also had the windows open.  I am not sure the old men new what had hit them when we pitched up but they took it all in good part.  From here we walked home - without incident and to the fab four who were waiting to be fed!!!
