Monday 3rd February

No Art today so we had the day to ourselves.  The weather has shifted slightly and we woke to what I think you describe as a mackerel sky.  We anticipated rain but in the end the clouds disappeared and the day was much better than expected - it is still chilly out of the sun and the evenings are very cool but we only needed the gas fire today to keep us warm.

I was contacted by my friend Georgia in South Africa this morning.  She has a plot of land for sale in Droushia and wanted a picture of the view so we said we would go and take some photographs.  She said that it had been accessible by car via a rough path but the winter rains had made that doubtful and we didn't want to get Kenny stuck in the mud.

The land in question is in front of the Droushia Heights Hotel and across the road heading down towards the coast and does have a sea view.

We aren't exactly sure how big the actual plot is but this is certainly a pretty and unspoilt spot, at least for the moment.

It also looks like Georgia is going to put the family home next to Christos's Taverna up for sale.  This is a traditional stone built village house and they rarely come up for sale with title deeds and no disputed ownership.  So if anyone reading this is interested in either the plot or the village house let me know and I can put you in touch with her.

The village house is pretty with traditional blue shutters and will benefit from being on one of the stretches of road which they are cobbling - our friends Clare and Les live directly behind so the neighbours aren't too bad either!!!

Looks like there are going to be quite a few changes in Droushia with new people coming in - hopefully this will breath some life into it and once the renovations are completed it should look really good.

My foray into the depths of the Droushia countryside made me realise that I really could do with some wellies for occasions like this and for working in the garden so when we went down to Polis for John to go and get a haircut I went off to Festival Shoes to see what they had.

I was offered some heavy duty proper black wellies but they turned out to be massive even in the smallest size so I ended up with some blingy ones - hadn't anticipated them being quite so expensive as they were but they do look well made and should hopefully last longer than cheaper ones.  John has made me a stand for them so that they can sit outside upside down and so not fill with water nor become a home for our persistent rodent population.

I think they look too nice to get dirty - at least I wont feel embarrassed being seen out wearing them and they are certainly better for gardening than my fluffy slippers.

We returned from Polis and settled down for a quiet afternoon - really until it gets a bit warmer and settled there isn't a lot we can do by way of DIY although our list is growing!!

I spent the afternoon working on my picture and got it finished and put into a frame in readiness to give as a present.  I am actually quite pleased with it although I found her face really, really difficult to reproduce so she is not quite a true reproduction of the original - still unless you see them side by side I am guessing you wont know any difference!!
