Yet another nice day - it is such a welcome change from all the wet and miserable weather and actually makes you want and get on and do things. However, today is Sunday and we always spend it with Mum so normally I am getting food prepared but today I was being given the day off as we had all been very kindly invited for lunch and a game of cards with Liselotte and John. On my advice they had prepared a shepherd's pie with carrots and peas because I know that this is something that Mum would like. Liselotte and John have a fabulous, warm and cosy home set in lovely grounds - I say grounds because the garden is enormous and keeps them both busy. Their views are spectacular.
John is a great cook - Liselotte is the baker. John had made a really lovely Shepherd's Pie although I think that I should call is a Cottage Pie as it was made with beef and served it with carrots and peas which was great for Mum. John and Liselotte are lovers of garlic, and plenty of it, so I did smile when they also produced a cauliflower and tomato salad complete with a garlic dressing - they just couldn't resist something which contained their daily garlic quota!!
We played cards after lunch - a good natured game of their version of NOMS. House rules were applied which stymied me on several occasions as we didn't discuss and clarify them in advance so they kept being chucked in the mix!!
Guess what? The scorer won and the scorer was my John and he says the scorer always wins so no bloomin' surprise there!!
Anyway a really lovely time was had by all and it is so lovely that friends of ours are so happy to include Mum and make a fuss of her. Mum has a big day tomorrow as she is going to have a specialist look at her hand to see if anything can be done about her trigger finger.
