Saturday was a lovely fine, bright and sunny day. We didn't need to go out shopping and had checked the post on Thursday so could enjoy a lie-in before easing ourselves into the day. Having said that I had to get up and feed the cats but my reward was a spectacular sunrise. I made coffees and returned to bed to snuggle down and read the paper.
That in itself proved to be quite a challenge because the minute the cats had scoffed their breakfasts all four of them had crept back into our bedroom and made themselves oh so very comfortable on the throw. I know lots of people don't approve of cats on the bed but I just couldn't help smiling to myself or bring myself to chuck them off.
The Fab Four are in our bad books though as it would seem we have yet another unwelcome visitor or visitors, one of which must be the size of a small dog looking at what it has left behind. We thought we had ensured that all access to rodents had been denied but I did think the other day that the cat biscuits were beginning to disappear again at an alarming rate and then John found that some bugger had nibbled on the cork mat which is under the heater in the toilet. So traps have been set and we are on the lookout again, well we are, the cats quite clearly are not.
I don't have art tomorrow as Sheila and Klaus have definitely sold their house and so have paperwork to deal with and then a house hunt for their new home. With that in mind I decided to get out my water colours and have a go at recreating a picture by the artist Duane Bryers who created an unconventional plump-bodied pin-up girl called Hilda. Someone I know brought her to my attention and if my attempt is good enough I am hoping to frame it and give it to her as a gift. I worked on it until the light was too poor in the conservatory. I am pleased with the results so far...
