17th February

It was a different Monday for me as I was not going to Art because Sheila has had a little 'op' and was having the stitches out - apparently according to mum she looks like a feral cat that has been neutered and tagged as such with a 'V' in her ear.  Actually I wasn't too upset about not having Art as I am still getting over this blooming cold - it really is lingering and I will be glad when it has gone for good.

We had a leisurely start to the morning and then, as it was beautifully sunny AGAIN, John suggested we go out for a ride to see if we can find the hotel that friends Amanda and Jason are staying in, in April.  It is called the Louise Paphos Breeze and we have never heard of it.   I jokingly asked if it was actually built!!! We looked it up on the internet and could see that it was down on the coast somewhere between the King Evelthon and the Laura Beach!!

We did find it eventually.  You turn off at the Latin Centre and carry on down towards the coast and it is there on the right hand side.  Let's just say the approach was underwhelming but that is because, although set to open at the weekend, it is still being finished.  We are not sure what Amanda and Jason are expecting as last time they came they stayed at the Olympic Lagoon which is a very nice hotel.

We took the opportunity to have a good old snoop round and when we eventually found a couple of members of staff I took the opportunity to ask if we could go and look at a room.  It is useful to be able to speak and understand a bit of Greek as they called the manager and he took us to see the 'show suite'.

When you get into the grounds of the complex it actually is quite attractive - it is an 'ApartHotel' rather than a hotel as the accommodation is set up as Apartments - with bedroom, lounge and small kitchenette which is a bit strange as it is all-inclusive and premium all-inclusive which means that the drinks are imported rather than the local brands.  We took loads of photographs and videos of good things and bad and reported back.  As I said it is really difficult to know what their expectations are but this complex is in the middle of nowhere so it will be difficult to walk anywhere for a drink save along the coast path to Baracas which can be rather pricey, last time they were right in the midst of things.  Anyway they didn't seem upset by our findings and they were just really happy to see some sunshine - Yorkshire is being hammered by Storm Dennis at the moment.

John helped out a damsel in distress this afternoon.  Some months ago we met a lady who was due to rent 3a but for whatever reason she didn't and actually ended up renting at Lordos 2 - she was having a problem with her solar panels so John said he would pop up and have a look.  They had been isolated so that they didn't freeze over the winter so he soon sorted that.  It's a shame really that Alison didn't come to live on our estate as she seems very nice, is a cat person and just wanted peace and quiet - perfect!  She said to John that after she had agreed to rent that property she just had a bad feeling about it and so pulled out but still wanted to be up in a village.

We decided to take Lakis' car for a spin to make sure it was ok - which it was and we went off to Pitokopos to give it a run and to take in the fabulous view across the fields, the currently very green fields, down to Lara.  Now that we have had a respite from the rain we can once again begin to realise just how lucky we are to be free from work and free to do what we please.

Life is good except maybe if  you are a cow in Droushia - this poor one looked very thin around the haunches even though it was surrounded by lush green grass.
