Yet another beautiful day - February is turning into quite a nice month and the sunshine means we are generating electricity which is good news.
Although neither John nor I are 100 percent fighting fit John has decided that we should 'man-up' and 'work our way through it' and he is right because I have had enough of lounging around. As most of you know I have a limited attention span at the best of times which drives John nuts when we are trying to work together but now it is even worse which meant that as a Part IV I was worse than useless.
We have had some wood stored in George and Pam's for some time - I asked if it was ok to do so and they were great about it but we don't like to take advantage so we had planned that as soon as the weather improved sufficiently for us to use it we would and we were going to use it to panel the walls of the conservatory.
The benefits of having panelling are many - first and foremost we like the look of it and it can hide a multitude of sins as the walls are pretty uneven and it saves on the amount of paint you need to buy when it comes to painting the room which is good because paint here is very expensive and you can change the colour of the panelling if you wish. We knew we didn't have enough of the tongue in groove to complete the job but there was more than enough to do one wall so that was what John wanted to get done over the next couple of days.
Oh I do like a bit of DIY - I get really excited by DIY because I love to improve our home. I have always loved DIY and when John used to go away to sea (which was very regularly and often for a long time) I would fill my time decorating. Poor John never knew what the house was going to look like when he came back home but he never used to mind and I never used to spend a lot of money doing it.
We managed to get the long wall by our bedroom panelled but not stained - we have decided to try and match the colour to the furniture and the shutters - as John said, if we don't like it we can always change it!!! It looked neat and tidy and gives a nice warm feel - Charlie seemed to approve anyway! We shall complete the other bit tomorrow and I will crack on with the stain.

We had thought that tonight might just be the last time we light the fire this winter and what a corker it turned out to be. I had some pork in sauce and green beans left over from Sunday and so I roasted some veggies, potatoes, sweet potatoes and carrots and then supplemented the pork with some sausages which I had cooked earlier and we had that for our supper and it was blooming delicious.
We have quite a few things coming up over the next few weeks which might involve latish nights so I said to John we need to try and go to bed little bit later each night to get us into the swing. Having said that I was knackered after our busy day so we didn't manage much beyond 9.00pm but that is a start.
Not sure what John was thinking about but he was convinced there was football on tonight but he was wrong which I was pretty happy about as he had planned to watch it on his I-Pad in bed which is not really conducive to a good night's sleep in my book!!!
