28th February

Fridays seem to come round far too quickly but when you think that Tuesday was Sunday and you are all out for days then today, Friday, crept up on us and took us by surprise.  So much so that when I grabbed our pickleball bag I did so without actually checking to see that our paddles (bats) were inside!!!  DUH!!!  I blame my forthcoming big birthday for that particular brain-fart!!

We set off this morning with a few places we needed to go and were armed with the liver we had put aside for Little Dog and her pup who were both there.  Pup is now almost the same size as Little Dog and I think it is fair to assume that Pups dad was the scraggy looking 'Alsatian' that was hanging around.  Of the two pups Little Dog produced this was the less attractive so we hope that the other pup has disappeared because someone has given it a good home.  We live in hopes.

We managed to do all our bits and pieces in Paphos including going to the marble place and ordering the piece that John wants for the bathroom.  Cut to size and with edges chamfered it will be ready for collection next week and will cost us a massive 10 euros!!!  When we got our work surfaces there it was a dusty and messy little place which has now had a makeover and is super modern inside but fortunately the reasonable prices have not changed.

When we arrived at Mum's she was out taking advantage of the lovely sunshine and doing a bit of gardening.  The wind still has a keen edge to it but there are signs all the time that winter is on its way out and spring is round the corner.  Having said the the forecast for tomorrow is awful.  So awful that the traditional Carnival procession in Paphos is being postponed until Sunday to avoid the heavy storms that are coming our way.

It is Nicky's 50th birthday celebrations tomorrow (her birthday is actually on Monday).  Thankfully nothing is planned to be outside otherwise it will probably be a wash-out.

We had a full house at pickleball and some cracking games as a result.  The dance group which practices in the building must have a role in the carnival on Sunday as there were bags of freaky looking masks which will give the children watching nightmares!!!  Arodes John was nursing a cold - he says I gave it to him - I maintain he picked it up on the aircraft coming back from the UK.

We returned to have a cuppa with Mum and sort out our 'list' of things she wanted us to do - nothing onerous but we know she finds it difficult to make the bed so she doesn't need to struggle we are more than happy to tuck it in for her.

We also like to try and put on her TV Box things which we think she will find of interest and in places where she will be able to find them easily.

We had thought about a walk down into the village this evening but the weather deteriorated pretty rapidly so once we had had a shower and had tea we didn't fancy it.

Tea was fridge surprise.  I had some pork from the freezer which I made into a spicy dish with half an onion, a couple of limp peppers, some leftover curry sauce and some chilli noodles.  I marinaded the pork in the last remaining slug of Nicky's home-made ginger liqueur and it was lush.  In fact John just kept saying "that was divs" which roughly translated means "that was absolutely fabulous darling - you are truly a domestic goddess!!"
