First of all HAPPY 50TH BIRTHDAY NICKY KIRBY!!!
Today is Green/Clean Monday and for the first year since we moved out here we didn't go and try and fly a kite - we were just too busy!!! The weather was probably the best it could have been for kite flying but hey-ho there is always next year!!!
I started today with a visit to Dad and had taken with me a pot because Di and Rob had so very kindly left a plant on the anniversary of his passing and I want to make sure it lasts as long as possible. I just so happened to have this pot in the garden and it was absolutely ideal as I put a large stone inside which will stop it being blown over and lift the plant from any standing water because pinks don't like being sat in water.
The plant is flowering beautifully as are those we potted up in the trough which have grown and are starting to flower. I know Dad will have been thrilled that we selected Sheffield United colours of red and white!!!
Everything was neat and tidy and so after a quick chat I made my way along to Sheila and Klaus's and wondered how much longer I will be doing that - their search for their new home continues but at least the new owners have given them several months to get themselves sorted. Unfortunately it is getting harder to find unfurnished and pet friendly rental accommodation at a reasonable price but I am sure that something will turn up soon.
After what seems like absolutely ages I have finished my picture of the House Leeks and it is framed and up in the house. I am really pleased with the finished article which, after touching up some of the areas which I had started weeks if not months ago, really sprang to life and had a real three dimensional feel to it.
I don't know what I will tackle next - I am not going to art next week as it is my 60th Birthday so I have a couple of weeks to think about it.
We have enough of my artwork hanging on the walls so I am hoping someone might like me to do a picture for them - I don't want payment - save maybe for the frame - I just love doing it and don't want my pictures shoved in a drawer!!!
I have to say thanks to Sheila and Klaus for letting me look through the garden pots that they are hoping to find a home for - I chose several large terracotta ones which I will fill and enjoy and then think of them both.
Whilst I was at art John set about finishing the wood panelling in the conservatory which he did save for a bit of staining which I did - then we got round to putting the bottom 'skirting' board on the panelling in the lounge and we are really pleased with the finished result - we just have to do the same in our bedroom but as this requires some painting rather than staining it will have to wait for another day. John not only has me as his little helper but also Chivers who decided he wanted attention whilst John was trying to get my washing in. I don't know many cats that are so happy to sit on your shoulder - he is completely relaxed with his back legs swinging freely and his front paws resting on John's hand. This doesn't make it easy to do laundry!!!
Our reward for a job well done was to have a nice hot shower, get changed and take a walk down to the Hotel and have a little drink which we don't do so often as it is a little on the pricey side but we would miss the Hotel if it wasn't there and at the moment nowhere else is accessible!! We must look pretty scruffy normally as manager Irene couldn't get over 'how smart we were looking'!!! Actually I must thank Argy for my blouse - it was a gift from her and fits perfectly.

We had expected the hotel to be very busy as it was Clean Monday but it was quite quiet so for a while we were joined by the Chef for a chat!
We had a couple of drinks before making our way back home. There are new people moving into 3a - we met the man - Albert and had a quick chat - he seems pleasant enough and doesn't mind our cats which is a bonus! Apparently he is moving with his wife Theresa and they were in Geroskipou previously. I think Argy and Lakis might struggle with Albert's accent as he is rather broad Brummy!! It looks like The Little White House has got some Air BnB'ers - hope they have brought their thermals because I can't think it is overly warm in there this time of the year!
