Today was a special day for some special friends of ours, who from now on are to be referred to as our Special Stalkers!!! Today Nicky and Mark were renewing their wedding vows in front of a few friends and family down on the coast. Sadly the weather gods did not get the brief and so unlike yesterday which was sunny, bright and warm today was muggy and overcast as if we were swathed in a sandstorm and at one point in the afternoon we actually had a few large drops of rain.

John and I were driving down to Emba to pick up Nicky and Mark to take them to the venue which was near Baracas Beach Bar right on the coast - John even went the extra mile and cut up some fabric so that we could put 'bows' on the door handles of the car!!!
I was dressed up in a dress and boots and Nicky was braving it in a cut-away little number but I reckon the adrenaline was keeping her warm!!!
The service was under a canopy just off the coastal path and then we were retiring to the Baracas Bar for drinkies then ending the celebrations with a meal at Tweedies in Kissonerga. John was driver this time!!
It was blustery down on the coast but at least the indifferent weather kept away walkers using the coast path who might have been inclined to stop and stare!! Actually in terms of a service this was considerably longer and more meaningful than the standard civil wedding ceremonies we have attended!! They exchanged some lovely words and there were a few tears shed during the process!!
We retired to the lounge bar - the initial plan had been to sit outside and enjoy the sunshine and the view but it really wasn't nice enough and we were glad we had taken up a corner inside when it started to rain, albeit not for very long. We spent a very pleasant couple of hours chatting and drinking before it was time to move to Tweedies for our evening meal.
Tweedies is a pretty and intimate restaurant in Kissonerga. John knows the chef Craig through pickleball. This is much more like 'fine dining' than most other places we know. It probably can only manage 30 covers at the most so the 12 of us on a big square table took up more than half of the venue. It was a bit dark in there to get a decent photograph and I forgot to take a snap of the food - DUH!!!!!!
We cannot thank Nicky and Mark enough for inviting us - we had a lovely afternoon and evening and it was so overly generous of them for paying for us all particularly after Mark had paid for all the celebrations surrounding Nicky's 50th birthday last weekend. We are complaining that they have set the bar far too high what with my 60th being on Monday.
Anyway CONGRATULATIONS Mr and Mrs Kirby - may you enjoy many many many more anniversaries together xxxx
