The morning after the night before...

So this morning we gathered for breakfast at the Droushia Heights Hotel - no-one seemed in a rush to leave and so we spent a very pleasant couple of hours digesting food and digesting the previous evening which was deemed to have been a fabulous success and now John (aka The Great Husbundo) can relax!!  It now feels quite sad that it is all done and dusted save for the fact we have to go tomorrow to pick up stuff from the Gallery which is ours.

In all the excitement last night timings slipped and so we didn't get to sample the fabulous cake which Nicky had made for me and which featured very realistic representations of our cats including the big old blob in the middle which is Charlie of course!!!

We managed to get it back home safely and Nicky and Mark and Laura and Mark helped us to make a decent dent in it.  It was a fabulous carrot cake which included pineapple which adds an extra zing and moisture.

Nicky really has been an absolute star this week what with all her celebrations and providing afternoon tea for me and Mum and this lovely cake.

Actually last night really underlined what a fab bunch of friends we had sitting around the table.  It was great to look around and see them all chatting and laughing and to appreciate what they each bring to our lives.  A small but beautifully formed group!!

We are so very grateful that Laura and Mark had made the effort to come over - and now it would seem they were lucky to do so as the world is being gripped by the effects of Corona Virus.  John's travel plans for next week look to be seriously in doubt and if he does go may well have to self isolate for two weeks on his return.  This has implications for anyone planning on coming over and we have no idea how long this is going to last - it is going to get worse before it gets better that's for sure.

On a lighter note we took advantage of the lovely afternoon to go for a walk in Latchi and stop at the harbour for something to drink.  I know Laura hates having her photo taken so I have to catch her when she isn't expecting it.

We had planned an early evening meal as we were all beginning to flag so took a drive up the hill to Steni where we knew that there would be plenty of choice for meat eaters and non meat eaters alike.  We haven't been there for a while - last time the service was not so good but tonight it was back to normal, good food and good service.  It rounded off what has been a fabulous few days of celebration.
