Bless my Mullet - Day 13

Foolishly, just before my birthday I decided to go through a phase of 'letting my hair grow a bit'.  I have no idea why because my hair is so fine that it needs a damn good cut so that I don't look like the village bedlam.  Fortunately my hair behaved itself for my birthday party but then it was only a matter of days before clamp down and no more visits to the hairdresser.  I do now look like a cross between the village bedlam and Chris Waddle - not only did he sport a ridiculous mullet for a lot of his football playing career but he also played for Sheffield Wednesday which is a complete 'no'no' in this household - in fact I seem to remember he was responsible for the goal at Wembley when Sheffield Wednesday played Sheffield United in the 1993 FA Cup semi final.

That mullet was marginally better than his current hairstyle which seems to have been inspired by Peaky Blinders but sadly Waddle is no Thomas Shelby that's for sure.  When the time comes I shall not be using him as my role model.  I think I shall be spending some time during lockdown consulting hairstyles so that I am ready and armed.

Today is Saturday although not that you would know it particularly as there is nothing to make this day seem any different to any other this week.  No shopping and no football.  It was my turn to chose a film and I had selected 'Sorry we missed you' which was a Ken Loach film and in true Ken Loach style was dark and depressing.  In fact and hour in we felt like we had been through the mill and we still had an hour to go.  All the way through it felt like it was building up to some sort of finale but it didn't and we were left feeling like that was two hours of our lives we were not going to get back.

We are a little concerned about Mr Boo who isn't eating as he would do normally - he runs for his food but then sniffs it and walks away but cries that he is still hungry.  Now is just about the worst time to have to take him to the vets so we are keeping an eye and hope he picks up soon.

Our film for this evening was John's choice and called Richard Jewell which is based on a true story around a bombing in a park at the time of the Atlanta Olympics.  The security guard was first hailed to be a hero and then arrested as prime suspect before being exonerated.  I have watched several films and series recently which have had a real detrimental affect on my opinion of law enforcement.  I hate injustice and this was injustice on a grand scale.

Here is today's extract from my Ration Book...

We might think things are bad now but, during the War, although there wasn't a shortage of water the government suggested that 5 inches of water (in the bath) was how much a whole family should use in a week - between them! - in order to save the electricity needed to heat it.
