Day 9 - the restrictions start in earnest...

Ok so there is a strict three week clamp down on all unnecessary movement so we are stocked up and ready to spend the whole time at home if needs be - I am actually relishing the opportunity to see what I can rustle up in the kitchen so that we have zero waste or as zero as possible.  If it goes beyond three weeks then we will have to venture out and actually we would not be surprised if it gets extended - it will probably take three weeks to get it into some people's brains that this is serious.

I am of the view that if we can sit down each evening and have a lovely supper together we will be fine and tonight we have some strawberries set aside for our supper and they are looking at their absolute peak - they are ginormous and smell mmmm mmmm mmmm.  I have placed a one euro coni on the biggest so you can get an idea of the size!!!

I have put aside some chicken for a pasta dish which will help use up some ham, cream and cheese which has been in the fridge quite a while and made a stock out of the carcass with some rather sad looking veg that has been loafing around.  We had to make some room in the freezer for food so a box of chopped up lemons got the heave-ho but they have been turned into a small jar of fresh lemon pickle.

We had a visit from the goats today - I guess that they will not be affected by the self-isolation and social distancing!  As the new restrictions come into effect at 6.00pm this evening we took the opportunity for one last look over Lakis and Argy's property to make sure it was ok before we will be unable to do so without taking paperwork with us just in case anyone questions why we are out.  John has been fighting to keep their pool clean and fresh and has made a command decision that once we are allowed out again he will tackle it so that when they are able to come out it will be looking its best.  I know John would keep nipping over if he could but we have to be sensible and 'rules is rules'.

There may not be too much to report over the next few weeks but I will just keep the blog ticking along.

Regular readers will know that this blog is published several weeks behind - sadly today we have to send out big hugs to a very special friend who has lost a close family member to this terrible virus.

If you are reading this and are struggling with the lockdown restrictions remember why they are in place, stay in and stay safe, others have not been so lucky.
