The last supper...

Today turned out to be our last day of 'normality' because from 6.00am tomorrow the island is on lock-down.  This will have all sorts of implications but for now it would appear that we are affected by  Eateries and bars (save for those providing take-away)  closing for a period of four weeks and pickleball being suspended.  Hotels have to close within the next six days and remain closed until the end of April.  Anyone who meets the criteria to come on to the Island has to be accompanied by a health certificate and it would appear that they are like rocking horse poo.  This has left Jane and John with a massive conundrum because they are due to fly back on the day after the travel restrictions are lifted but of course if they are not then they are stuck and they aren't sure what to do - ultimately we think there is nothing they can do but sit it out and see how the situation pans out because for now they have a flight which is expected to fly and they cannot get seats on a flight going sooner.

There was nothing left for us to do today but to carry on regardless and we had booked to go to lunch at To Stekki tou Panai (Maria's) in Kathikas although at the time we didn't realise that this was to be the last opportunity we would have to eat out with Jane, John and Mum until the lock-down period ends, in fact we had been discussing going to Phideas mid-week but that is now not going to happen.

We had a nice lunch - meze but not the souvla meze John had had with Sheila and Klaus and which he had raved about.  Even so it was plentiful and tasty so no complaints.  Mum had the meatballs which would feed her for a week!!!

It wasn't until our return from Maria's that we realised the extent of the measures being taken by the government to contain the virus.  Mum should be ok as she is in close proximity to everything she needs and has food in the freezer and she was going to ascertain whether or not her meal-delivery company was still going to operate so that she had other options.  It is going to be interesting but actually if people don't panic save for going out for a meal or a drink nothing much will change for us.  John had already decided not to fly back to the UK in case he couldn't get back and we have food for us and the cats.

I will probably scale back on the posts for the next few weeks if there is nothing more exciting to tell you about than whether we have been able to buy toilet rolls.
