19th May

We found it so hot last night that today we decided to explore all options as John thought the lounge was cooler than our bedroom.  The large sofa is actually a sofa bed and it has, on a previous occasion, been a home for a mouse or a lizard based on the evidence we found.  Fortunately no such problem this time.  We cleared the sofa bed and we got bedding out so that we could sleep there if we wanted.

It was another exceptionally hot day and so we had no energy to do anything much but I did decide to tart up the cushions on the steamers in Wendy and Bill Corner.

The original material on the cushions had gone thin in places and there were a few rips appearing - I had tried to get some prices for waterproof material from George's Material shop in Limassol but got no answer so today I decided I would use the two towels we bought when we went to Penang which are now showing signs of age but are still good.  We realised that we bought them back in 1997 so they are 23 years old!!!  They have done the trick nicely and it wont matter if people come out of the pool and go straight on them.  On the subject of the pool the water temperature is nudging 30 degrees and it is only mid-May!!!

With the steamer cushions upcycled and super comfy John and I decided to spend an hour or so in the dappled shade - it should have been the Chelsea Flower Show back in the UK so we felt it only right to mark the occasion by enjoying our garden along with a cooling beer.

Tonight's supper was one of my favourites warm peppered Brie and Bacon salad - it looks so delicious and vibrant and I kid myself that it is the healthy option but probably not!!!  The salad was tossed in a mango dressing and a bit of sweet chili was on the cheese.  This week is going to be salad all week and tomorrow John has suggested that we go to the beach for a swim for some exercise and it will be the last day of restrictions.

We had prepared the lounge area for opening up the sofa bed - Chivers loved the change - he spent the evening hugging the rug and looking super comfy.  As it happens we didn't sleep there - we checked both bedrooms and the lounge and found that our bedroom was the coolest - by about 1 degree admittedly and was in the 30s!!!
