Today sees the last day of personal restrictions for Lockdown in Cyprus. The curfew from 10.00pm this evening until 6.00am tomorrow morning should be the last providing that our island's 'R' number does not increase. Not everything will reopen tomorrow and those businesses that can have to adhere to strict rules regarding social distancing and hygiene. The last two months of being at home have made us appreciate what we have and how lucky we are. We can see the sea and the mountains from our house - even it you have to go up onto the roof terrace to do so and within the confines of our beautifully walled garden we feel safe and secure.
Our plan to sleep in the lounge did not materialise but it did give us an opportunity to look at furniture layout which was altered and then reinstated!!! I also took away the rug and some of the throws so it looked less wintery although to be fair this is really when we use the room so we tend to leave it as is all year round.
We had a photo sent from Great Uncle Stanley who was enjoying a bit of lovely sunshine in Lockdown in his Man Shed which is in stark contrast to when we video called him last week on his birthday when it looked like he was freezing his nads off in the garden. No wonder people get ill with such a swing in the outside temperature.
We had decided to exercise our right to some exercise by way of a swim today - no sunbathing allowed and the beaches are being patrolled. We reckoned that with the relaxation of restrictions the beaches would never be so empty again and we headed off to Latchi to the bit of beach near where Janice and Mick stayed in the Villa and there were only another 4 people doing the same and with so much room available for social distancing there was never going to be an issue of cross contamination!! We sent Great Uncle Stanley a photograph of our Lockdown Exercise...
G.U.S. responded with a photograph of his!!! Still he is looking good for being another year older but I am wondering if the spray can is in case he pulls a muscle during the jigsaw making??? Mum could do with his help with the puzzles she has tried to tackle recently - we are hoping that the one which Sheila and Klaus gave her for her birthday will prove easier for her to manage.
Salad again for tea tonight - bacon and halloumi rather than brie and bacon - village halloumi too which is our absolute favourite. The last night of curfew and sitting out in the cool before we went to bed we wondered if it would ever be so quiet here at night again.
We are expecting the estate to burst into a real hive of activity from now on as Sonia's builders are completing 1A, Persephone and Savvas are having a bedroom built above the kitchen at 1B, the builder is working on the 8's and hopefully Nicky and Mark will be up soon to start to get 9B into shape.
