Another day was planned in the garden - a couple of 'quick' jobs which ended up taking us all day!!! We started the day with a lovely fresh breakfast outside. Lilian had kindly given mum some peaches from her garden and they might not look much but they taste absolutely delicious and we topped them with some yoghurt, honey and cinnamon. It set us up for the day!!
The focus of our attention today was the front garden. I was on cutting back and cleaning the shingle whilst John was using up some wood and had decided to build a wooden partition which was going to be fabulous for my clematis to attach itself to. It is amazing how the herbs have grown so they were all getting a haircut.
Here is the finished article which I love. The partition not only supports the clematis (which now looks twice as big because I have been able to spread it out) but partially hides the ugly old garden house. The boy done so good - I think he is a keeper!!!
I managed to get everything cut back including the honeysuckle in the alleyway which is shedding dead leaves and flowers all the time. I did a reasonable job at cleaning the shingle - even Bobby would have been proud of me and John finished the day by demolishing his old wooden work bench so that he has to address that space sooner rather than later.
We had only penciled in salad for tea but we had worked so hard today that we were ravenous and John was a bit worried that he was going to starve. I channeled my inner Cypriot wife and raided the fridge and we had salad, coleslaw, dips, olives, beetroot, John's village bread toasted with olive oil and oregano and then some halloumi, bacon and onion cooked up. It was delicious and we enjoyed every mouthful and shortly after we collapsed into bed - exhausted but happy!!
