Our 29th Wedding anniversary...

29 years ago John and I tied the knot in Bonny Scotland.  This was way before there was the facility to get married in unusual places like Wookey Hole Caves or The Boiler House Grafitti Gallery so if you didn't get married in a church then it had to be a registry office and we chose to make the trip to Gretna Green as we reckoned that would be a little more unusual and romantic than Yeovil Registry Office.

We had seven guests and a really wonderful weekend and looking at the photographs it seems like a lifetime ago - so much has happened in the interim and bless John he looks so young but very smart in his uniform.

We had to organise every thing over the phone in those days - I am not sure any of it was available on the internet so we couldn't be sure we were going to get the day we were expecting but we did - everyone in Gretna seemed to know one another and be involved in the wedding business and all wanting to ensure you had a day to remember right from the lady in the hairdressers to the man who took me to the registry office and the brilliant lady who worked in the hotel and ensured that even the serviettes matched our colour scheme.

It was a very different Sunday for us as we had organised that Mum would come up yesterday for lunch and we would have today to ourselves and we had tickets to go to the Gin Bar in Kathikas to see Davey Woodford and eat lamb shanks.  We were going with Di and Rob who kindly drove.

The lamb shanks were fabulous and such good value and it was good to see that the bar was busy (even with the required distancing) and with people from further afield as we were followed there by Gillian and David from Polis who were going there to meet up with friends.    When we arrived Belinda was there waiting for Das to finish work at Imogens and as they were sat right next to us it was a good opportunity for them to meet Di and Rob.  We were sure Rob would find Das interesting as he is into music and plays the guitar and now that Les has given Rob one Rob is keen to learn and Belinda is very easy company too.

It looks like they hit it off judging by the photographs and that is nice.  Belinda may well go to pilates in Kathikas and she and Das already know Adva who takes the classes.

The music was supplied by Davey Woodford who we had seen there back in January.  We had enjoyed him then and tonight he played a completely different set of music which was great and we thought even better than when we had seen him play before.

We now have a year to plan our 30th (Pearl) anniversary - blimey who would have thought it all those years ago in Gretna Green!!
