Poorly Mr Boo...

It is very hard to tell from this picture but Mr Boo is poorly.  I was concerned yesterday because he had a strange wound near his right armpit and today when he jumped up on my lap and I stroked him there was a lump the size of a chicken's egg there.  This meant only one thing - abscess.

John managed to find the original puncture wound and carefully scraped off the scab and then there was an outpouring of hideous gunk which is enough to make anyone's stomach turn - fortunately Boris was unconcerned and let us get on with it.  He did squirm a bit when we cleaned it up but took his antibiotic without issue so that was good.  Luckily we had an extra load of antibiotics left over from when Charlie had his mega abscess last year.

We will need to keep an eye on him but from past experience this is all that the vet does initially and if we are concerned in any way we will be straight down to the vets on Monday with him.  Poor Boris is prone to getting an abscess we have dealt with them for him on several occasions and he always lets us do it without getting nasty bless him.  Fingers crossed it will start to heal now that we have found it.

I shall be at sixes and sevens for the rest of the week because it is Saturday and Mum is coming up today instead of tomorrow because it is our 29th wedding anniversary tomorrow and John is taking me out to listen to live music (Davey Woodford) at the Gin Bar in Kathikas and they are serving Lamb Shank.

We had organised to have a light lunch in Finnikas in the village.  We started by having a family trip to see Dad at the Cemetery and then took our lives into our hands to walk from the Hotel carpark up to the taverna.  There were two workmen 'working', in the loosest possible sense, who made it extremely difficult for us to get to the front door of Finnikas. We just thought it would be sods law that Mum might fall or end up bruising her leg but we managed to get there and back without incident.

One of Marina's kittens was feeling brave and had left its siblings to come and investigate what was going on.  This one is super cute - I hope it survives - at least we know that Marina does feed her cats.

We had a nice relaxing lunch in the shade, save for the noise of the cement mixer outside but that couldn't be helped and after a while we got used to it.

Our lunch was a treat from Mum which was very kind of her and I think she enjoyed it as she likes halloumi and chips and Marina's handcut hand cooked chips are the best.  It was different for Mum to be here on a Saturday and as a bonus her lovely friend Lilian is having her round for lunch tomorrow so this weekend will be pretty full on which is good as I know that often Mum finds Saturday's quite boring.  It has prompted us to say to her that if she does get an invitation to do something on a Sunday we can always swap our day so she doesn't have to decline.

The remainder of the day was pretty quiet - We had a late night the night before and John is still getting over his throat infection so opted for an early night.  Tomorrow we plan a long, long lie-in but doubt the cats will have got the memo.
