A good day...

Sunrise starts at about 6.00am at the moment so when I was up to feed the cats the sun had just started to creep up over the ridge of mountains over towards Lysos.   The unsettled weather has passed through and we are back to the sort of days we would expect in August.  This is good as Bobby and Di are off to the Hotel Paradisos in Lysos tomorrow for an overnight stay.  We had a smattering of little cloud this morning and if you look closely in the photograph you will see the lovely lady who cleans the Community Office on her early morning walk.  All cats accounted for and having had their breakfast I returned to bed with coffees for John and I - this is our normal routine!

I called to see Sonia this morning - full of humble pie because we were due to see her this evening for drinkies but we had a diary malfunction and so were double booked as Di and Rob wanted to see us before they went away and because we haven't seen them for a week!  Sonia was fine - we have just pushed it back to tomorrow.  I stayed for a cold drink and a chat and she was busy showing me what she is doing with her garden and said she was keen to add more plants so on my return I found some bits and pieces from our garden which she could have and which will, in due course, fill some gaps.  She is keen on succulents and I have a fair few of them and they are so easy to propagate and she is also into herbs and fragrant plants so some sage, basil and rocket was also heading her way.

Brunch today saw me use the very last scraping of my Branston Smooth Pickle which was as close as I could find to Branston Fruity Brown Sauce.  Branston sauce is the only brown sauce I like.  In the past it has been in plentiful supply in various guises and bottles but recently no sign anywhere and I was getting frantic.  I even contemplated shipping some over but that is either inordinately expensive or the normal stockists are themselves out of stock.

I was ecstatic this afternoon when Marky-Mark across the road text me to tell me that he and Nicky had managed to locate some when they were down in Peyia today and he had brought me back 2 bottles - OMG that is like the best present EVER at the moment!!!

I will continue to see if I can secure a ready supply - and if anyone wants to send me either Branston Rich and Fruity Brown Sauce, Branston Brown Sauce or Branston SMOOTH Pickle I can give you an address in the UK for it to go and then it gets shipped over and I pay the shipping when it arrives here so that makes it less expensive an exercise and I will love you forever.

We walked down to Finnikas to meet up with Rob and Di - we got there a little early and sat at our favourite table and decided to have a shandy with 7up and Leon (although in a Keo Glass).

Di and Rob arrived just a few minutes afterwards and we sat down to catch up on the weeks' events.  We hadn't decided exactly what we were going to eat - Di had suggested a pitta but that got a bit lost in translation somewhere and we ended up with a mini-meze!!!

We had a lovely evening and it was good to see other people coming in for food as the local eateries really really need the business.  It does look as though Phase A of the road is nearing completion at long last and hopefully Phase B is not such a big undertaking and will be finished by October as it is meant to be.  They have cleared up most of the debris along the main street so we could walk in fairly unhindered save for the 'beach' of sand which has appeared outside the church.

Anyway we hope Di and Bobby have a lovely little mini break in Lysos - we shall look forward to seeing the photographs.
