New Places...

There are signs that Summer is gradually slipping away and being replaced by the early signs of Autumn (such as it is over here).

For instance, the evenings up in the hills are cooler and damper and the pomegranates are beginning to form - this one was about the size of a small orange - it will not be long before they are ready and then, because they are often left unharvested, they ripen, fall and rot.

The pool temperature has lowered by a degree or so but makes that up during the day as it is still very hot at the moment.

Compare this to the awful weather being experienced in some parts of the UK today and we realise just how lucky we are.  My sister sent a photograph of her weather station where the outside temperature was barely into double figures and signs of torrents and torrents of rain.   It is her birthday next week and she is having a Summer House for the garden just in case, as she fears, the area where she lives goes back into lockdown - it would at least give her another option of somewhere to sit if she is forced to be at home again.

It is difficult to organise a gift for her so I have to rely on places like Amazon which will deliver direct and I thought that she might like a nice little tea-set for one ensemble which she can leave in the Summer House and a selection of teas to go with it.  I am sure her friends will oblige with various accoutrements for when the Summer House is used as a Gin Palace or a Zen haven!!

I am hoping that both will arrive in time for 2nd when she will celebrate a birthday which used to be synonymous with retiring and receiving your bus pass although alas this is no longer the case for many as the retirement age for women is pushed further and further back.

We went out for a ride today as we fancied a tea and sticky mid-morning so nipped over to the Gin Bar.

We nearly drew a blank as there were no pastries in the warmer so we told Savvas he was sacked - he just laughed and said "give me 15 minutes" and returned with two freshly baked pain au raisin which were delicious.  We decided to take a circuitous route home via Kritou Terra and parked up and had a little walk around and ended up striking up conversation with the lovely man who lives next to the taverna and who has decorated the outside walls of his traditional home with over 500 plates.  He has invited us in for coffee next time we go over and I have promised to look out for some plates to add to his collection.

This evening we were doing something just a little bit different to celebrate the Bobster's Birthday.  We were going down to Coral Bay and eating at a Thai/Indian Restaurant called the Gold Temple which felt a bit like we were holiday-makers for the evening.  Di very kindly drove for which many many thanks.  It was really nice to go and try somewhere different.  There is a bit of life down in Coral Bay although nothing like what they would normally expect for this time of year and so it was easy to comply to the social distancing required at the moment.  It was quite a hot and sticky evening so my coiffed hair ended up looking as flat as a pancake by about the main course so thank God Di took this photograph early doors.

As a postscript Marky-Mark (opposite) was down to see the cardiologist today and ended up having more surgery on his heart.  Nicky is keeping us posted and we have our fingers crossed that it goes successfully.
