We were up and out fairly early this morning as we were picking up Mum and going out for lunch in Paphos and whilst we were down there we had a few errands we wanted to run which included going to the metal man with some waste metal and my old microwave. The microwave worked - sort of - John told the guy in charge who just shrugged his shoulders until he thought we were out of view and then he took a distinct interest. I am guessing they were heating up their lunch within 10 minutes of us leaving!!! I don't mind as it was surplus to our requirements and I would rather someone could make use of it.
We drew a blank with most of the things we wanted to do today but nothing was critical so we picked up Mum and headed down to Tea for Two where we were meeting Costas and Jackie. We had been supposed to have them up with us for lunch a couple of months back but Jackie had been poorly and couldn't come so this was the first opportunity. We had been prepared for her to look unwell but she arrived as glamourous as usual and that was a relief.
It was great to catch up. Costas persuaded us to try the spare ribs so that is what John, Mum and I had (although Mum only had a small portion which was wise). Costas then ordered us chocolate brownie and ice-cream to share - well he said to share but ordered John and I one each and chocolate brownie and ice-cream would be the last thing I would order not being a lover of chocolate which has been cooked or ice-cream!!! John thought he was sharing his but valiantly worked his way through waving a white flag half way through the ice-cream!!
We sat for quite a while catching up and having a laugh and arranged that they will come up for lunch in November and hopefully this time nothing will get in the way!!! We know Jackie and Costas are both lovers of fish so we may go out or I may try and do fish at home.
We had bought a storage box in Paphos Home Market - it is a great little cube thing that will hold all the cushions and keep them dry and it can act as a table and a seat (as demonstrated by Miss Minnie who approved of her vantage point). We sat 'up top' to catch the last of the sun and to have a drink. When the clocks change we probably wont be able to do that so we wanted to take advantage whilst we still could.
John took the opportunity to have a good look around the garden - it is such a different view from up there. We have had such wonderful weather that the garden is still looking really good and so we are taking the opportunity to 'Winterise' it slow time so that it isn't such a shock when everything is cut back. The forecast is for rain this week which usually means that we get a whole raft of weeds appear a couple of days later!!
I shall finish with a photograph of my amazing uncle Ivor who has recently lost his wife, my aunty Margaret. He made a decision to give up driving and has been given a motability scooter which is allowing him to go to places he would never have managed before. This weekend his family took him for a trip to Wistonbirt Arboretum where the Autumn colours were unbelievable and look at him with that fabulous smile on his face.
