I forgot to post this last night - my excuse is that on a Sunday I spend a good couple of hours getting the Lockdown Challenge artwork and photographs published and the polls in place for people to vote - I am so relieved when this is done that I forget the blog. This week participants are voting on Masks - rather apt under the circumstances...
So the new restrictions for this part of the island come into effect today and are due to last a couple of weeks. Basically we are supposed to wear masks in all outside public spaces but not if we are exercising and not if that exercise is taking place indoors in a sports or dance hall so for the time being our pickleball sessions are exempt. There is a curfew from 11.00pm until 5.00am which wont affect us as we are normally tucked up in bed way before that time. There are also limitations regarding the number of people that can be in the house and the number of people that can sit round a table in a restaurant. Again, none of these concern us. I believe we are inevitably heading for conditions similar to what we experienced in March. Tomorrow the clocks change - we get an extra hour in bed on Sunday morning. It will be lighter earlier in the mornings and darker earlier at night. In the past the weather seems to change once the clocks go back and it heralds the end of the tourist season so it is probably as good a time as any (if there is such a thing) to lock people down. We shall see.
It was a hot day today, we were not lunching with Mum as she was being taken out by her old neighbours Wendy and Peter who now live in Drimou. We went down to Paphos early so we could run a few errands which included going back to the marble place but this time with some tiles from the bathroom so we could make a proper decision on the piece we need for the shower. As it happens the Donatella which I had chosen last week was the best match but now we could be absolutely certain.
We had done a little shopping for things we cannot normally get in Polis and gone back to look at the storage boxes in Paphos HomeMarket before deciding that John would sacrifice one of his many boxes dotted around the garden or carport and currently housing his wood collection. This would save us the 80 euros that a second box would cost.
We had five at pickleball today. Sadly Di is still nursing an injury to her foot but is hopeful that she will be able to return next week. Playing with just four last week nearly killed Keith and I having played the day before (and Keith on the Tuesday as well). Playing with five is marginally less exhausting but I was cream-crackered by the end of the session and was glad to be able to jump in the car and get home and get showered.
Come next week it will be dark at 5.30pm so we are unlikely to be able to sit 'up top' after pickleball unless we get floodlights. It had been such a beautiful day and the evening was warm and still. In the distance we could hear the dulcet tones of Das warming up his vocal chords to a pretty decent rendition of "I did it My Way". Boris and Charlie joined us and in the field we could see Miss Minnie having a wander but keeping an eye on one of the semi-stray dogs which hangs around Andreas's house. I tried to do a Panorama of the roof terrace and get in the sunset but failed!!
It being Friday it was Date Night which meant that we were having a nice meal and glass of wine followed by a film. Our meal was chicken fajitas which is fast becoming a firm favourite and what I plan to cook when Di and Rob come next week to eat. The film was a new release called Dating Amber. A nice gentle romantic comedy which reminded me a little of the film Pride.
