Not the day we planned - hence no photos!

Yesterday and today did not really go to plan as we were woken early with a message from Clare in Hong Kong to say that Les had woken feeling unwell with double vision (amongst other things) and he was quite distressed and could we help him out.

To cut a very long story short John shot off down the village and got Les with a plan that he would take Les to his doctor as Les and Clare both insisted they were registered and accepted for GESY which is the Cypriot National Health service.  We ascertained although not one hundred percent convinced that they were registered at the Evangelismos with Dr Manolis who is also our doctor.  Unfortunately that was not the case - they had thought they were registered and accepted but they had only done part of the process and so Dr Manolis was now completing the last part but this would not be soon enough for any treatment Les needed today.  Dr Manolis gave Les phone numbers of Neurologists but explained if he saw him today and started the ball rolling then it was going to be pretty expensive.

I rang two of the numbers Les had been given but the Neurologists had long waiting lists and they both said that the best course of action was to take him direct to Accident and Emergency in Paphos which is what they did and Les was seen by a Doctor immediately.

Poor John sat waiting to hear what was going to happen - he couldn't leave until he know Les was ok and Covid clear and that didn't happen for another 6 hours.  In the end they did a CT Scan and some blood tests and admitted Les for observation overnight.

This morning we got up early and went down to feed Les and Clare's cat Molly and collected some clothes for Les then returned home where we put together a small bag of toiletries and I put a bag of food together so he would have something he recognised to eat as we had heard that food at the hospital was a bit hit and miss.

We had expected that we would go down to the hospital this morning and drop these things off and then he would have some more tests and things during the day and then hopefully if everything was ok we could go play pickleball and then hang around to wait for a call to bring him back to Droushia but that didn't happen as we learned the second CT scan and test wouldn't now take place until Saturday.  Poor Les will be in longer than he anticipated or wanted but he is in the best place and today sounded in a much better state then yesterday.

Apparently so far they have ascertained that his blood pressure is high as is his cholesterol and he was probably dehydrated.
