Having had fabulous weather it has now changed and what a change - Summer is most definitely over for the next couple of days at least. It is such a shame as my school friend Sheri (who lives on the other side of the island) is having a few days' away after she had to make the decision not to travel back to the UK to visit family. In the end she decided she would come up this way and we organised for her to stay at the Droushia Heights Hotel who are taking part in a government scheme whereby that the cost is subsidised. Sheri was more than happy with the rate of €37.50 per night for her room and ecstatic when she arrived and they had upgraded her to the Presidential Suite. Bless you Irene for doing that for us/her!! Sheri sent me a photograph of the luxurious bed she would be sleeping in and I have to admit I think it looks fabulous. Sheri is more than happy to entertain herself but we will get together for a meal.

This is not my photograph but this was taken last night during the storms which hit the island. In Droushia we were treated to the most spectacular of light shows with sheet and fork lightning all around us. The storms came and went throughout the night and the garden got a bigger watering than it really needed. Overnight everything changed and I will have a lot of tidying up to do when it has dried up enough for me to get out and make a start.

I have reluctantly had to get my slippers out from the depths of the wardrobe - really just so I can walk outside without getting my feet wet as they come with good solid soles. I am now contemplating whether I should be getting the rugs out for the conservatory and will need to see if I can look back on the blog to see when I usually make that move. This time last year we had our suite and lounge rug cleaned and it must have been a lovely warm day for them to be able to do it. Apparently this summer has been the hottest on record and I can well believe it.

The weather settled somewhat during the course of the day and so the setting sun caught the bottom of the waves of clouds painting the sky with beautiful colours. It wasn't really cold indoors - just cooler than of late but we drew the conservatory curtains to keep the warmth in and to make it feel cosier and awaited the announcement of the Cyprus Government with regard to any further restrictions. They have simple extended across the island those which were imposed on our area and Limassol a couple of weeks' ago i.e. the 11pm - 5am curfew, masks everywhere, only 10 people to gather in a house and only 6 people to eat at a restaurant table. We had expected much more than that as the UK prepares for full lockdown once again. Karen and Dip's flight has been cancelled and they have had to reschedule for December as have Lakis and Argy.
